  • I have been offered the v18 fix this morning delayed until my fix ends on 30th Sept. This may be a stupid question but does anyone know if the estimated cost includes the £400 energy rebate from government? As it stands my DD will be nearly tripling on the new fix but if l factor in the rebate it will bring it down to a manageable payment for me and l’d rather have the certainty of a fixed payment l think.

I don't think the £400 is taken into account and as I understand it, for the six months starting in October the £66/£67 per month will be deducted from your direct debit before you pay it.

Spoke to an advisor at Eon again yesterday as I’d noticed my gas tariff was showing as V18 despite getting the start date pushed back to the mid Sept when I’d spoken to them before.  Turns out the advisor that put the delayed start date on had only done it for Electric! So for those who have been successful in getting the Fixed Rate start date pushed back just double check they’ve done it for both Electric and Gas. Mine’s been adjusted now and the advisor was apologetic so at least I’ve not had any issues with them not honouring the delayed start date as others have on here.

Yeah that’s right it’s just deducted from your bill, like a credit each month as I understand it.

I contacted Eon.Next via Twitter to ask if I can sign up to the V18 but defer the start date to when my current tariff ends in October. They first said yes then afterwards changed their mind saying no, and also claiming that this policy applies to all customers (contrary to the posts on this thread above)..
So I just called them up after getting nowhere with the Twitter team. The lady on the phone sorted it out without any fuss, delaying my start date to the v18 until my current tariff ends mid-October.
  • I've still not had a response back from my complaint I logged this morning so I decided to call their complaints line, which goes to the standard customer services, the person I spoke with (an energy specialist) was basically saying that there is nothing that can be done and it's pointless re-opening my complaint because I'll only be told they cannot delay the start dates.

He did accept that the response I was given yesterday via email was incorrect I was misinformed and therefore apologised but stated that all a manager would do is apologise as they would not adjust my tariff.

He clarified that the manager I spoke with on Friday was his Team Leader and above him was an Operations Manager, so I requested that he escalated to the Ops Manager as they clearly cannot consistently provide the same service.

I'm not holding my breath on this as @spot1034 mentioned it's likely they have been bending the rules before and now have stopped.

There is nothing that forces Eon to postpone the start of a new fixed tariff.

They seam to do it for people coming of a fixed tariff, starting the new fix only when the old one ends. This seems to be the case with most suppliers.

Just because some customers on a SVT were also able to postpone the start of their does not mean they have to do the same for you. I assume they were going with it while there were only a few asking.

Telling them that people on a forum have written that they could do it might have been the worst thing you could do, you told them that there might be a lot of people coming now asking them to give away money. I am not surprised that they stopped agreeing to a later start when they heard that.

Next Online DD v18 is now toast.  Been replaced by v19 - tariffs  have gone up on this fix quite a bit compared to v18. (electricity up from 51.86p/kWh to 59.15 and gas from 13.21p/kWh to 14.97).  For my yearly usage of Elec 2500 kWh and Gas 6800kWh equivalent to circa £300 increase over v18

That was much later than I expected V18 to last.

Quick comparison based on the average used by Ofgem. Almost 95% more expensive than current SVT.

Might all be a moot point if they decide to fix the unit prices at current SVT and just hike the SC next year to pay for it. Not sure what would happen to people on fixes though. It's still a gamble whichever you jump!
