Does anyone have the capped (EPG) unit rates for Eon Next Online v18?

I’m due to move onto that tariff on Oct 6 (and was expecting Eon to enlighten me today) but my account still shows the uncapped rates.

I'm due to move to v19 on 6th October, but their website is currently down and is being updated.  Hopefully when that's done we should know the new rates.  I must be getting sad when I check their website more than once a day!
Do you know how long its been down for? I've just checked it for the first time today.

Unless the tariff you are trying to get is lower than the new capped unit rates (Highly doubtful) It's irrelevant what tariff you get put on as they will charge the same as the new govt subsidised tariff.

I don’t think it’s that simple in some edge cases, unfortunately.

The information that I’ve seen is that existing fixed tariffs will reduce by a certain amount (up to 17p/kWh for electricity and up to 4.2p/kWh for gas) down to the capped prices, but no lower. However, if the difference between your fixed rate and the cap is larger than that these reductions, you may still pay more than the cap.

Confusingly, Eon seem to say that they may make it the same as the cap regardless (as you say) but it’s not clear (to me at least). That’s why it’s important to get the actual unit rates after the reductions have been made.
  • I went into v18 on 25 September and have been waiting to find out what’s happening.
so far all that’s happened is my electric has changed in my tariff.

    electric 51.32
    s/c 43.26

    yeaterday it was
    52.79
    s/c 42.24

so does that mean they are just going to reduce by 17p kWh electric and 4p gas on my bill ?
No communication at all from eon

That’s really interesting. From what I can see, they’ve reduced your electricity unit rate by 1.4p to 17p above the October cap (and raised the standing charge to the cap amount). If that’s correct, after the 17p reduction, this fix will be the same as the cap - even though originally it would have been slightly above.

Essentially, it looks like Eon have given an additional 1.4p reduction on top of the legislated 17p reduction to match the cap.

The above message appears on my Eon next account screen. So it seems that they’re now charging at the capped rate (as they should) but haven’t updated their website yet.

I am now on v18 but unfortunately cannot check ATM (accounts not accessible - only meter readings and PAYG top up options open), but if you are correct then I should expect to see my electricity rate change in my tariff down from 51.86p/kWh to 49.24p/kWh before applying the 17p EPG reduction taking my v18 rate to the same as the cap @ 32.24p/kWh.  If this does happen then at least I won't need to change from v18 to the cap as they will be identical.  The only difference being my extra reduction to the cap is 2.62p/kWh.  Maybe Eon Next will only be applying the 17p reduction to the accounts in the near future OR they intend applying it at the billing stage - better for all if the former.
  • V18 user here - according to my account dashboard my gas is still on V18 but electricity is now displayed as flex with the old v18 end date. It was going to be the same situation as both of you, about 2p more after the epg was applied.

There were some rumours that EON were putting everyone down to the epg cap no matter how much discount that took.

     if you are correct
    That’s a big “if” 😊

Plenty of confusion on the Eon Next forums with people reporting random changes to their accounts. I think we just need to sit tight and take note of the Eon message saying that they’re on the case…
