With the help of u tube and a small screwdriver I eventually managed to get the back off the fire stick and replace the batteries. Apparently this is a common problem. Then Himself told me I needed to change a bulb on one of the living room lamps. I told you he was hopeless with anything remotely practical.. Can't even change a lightbulb!
Today is a better day so the throws are in the washing machine as we speak and the cushion covers to follow shortly. Pate ready for lunch and fish out of the freezer for dinner
Going to the Boy's shortly, got some shopping to do, prescription to go into the health centre and a lot of other little jobs so I'd better get started.Have adventures. laugh a lot and always be kind.7 -
Yesterday started early with chopping up 5 bags of ivy for the bins before collection, then did 5 more (well the same 5 bags were refilled and added to various bins). Went back to my morning routine but it was nearly lunch by the time I was dressed (I just pulled on the previous day's clothes to go chopping ivy - where I'm working is partly sheltered from the car park but there are buildings/ cameras on all sides). Lunch had been sorted at the same time as breakfast so had a little rest and relaxation which turned into inertia/ procrastination.
Told myself nothing was going to happen unless I made it happen and if I didn't move things would still be the same the next day/ next week/ next month/ next year. Think I'm partly paralysed by the mess. However I found the drains people's website and left details of the work that needs doing (from their earlier report) and said that I was now in a position to pay for the work and wanted a quote and a possible start date. I used the doctor's contact service to request an adjustment to my metformin prescription and raised the matter of pain meds for my arthritis. I've booked a valuation appointment at the bungalow with the estate agent (very close to the bungalow so hoping they do the viewings). Messaged Mrs Builder to ask for a consult on the back wall/ gate (no gate currently). I sent feedback on my mindfulness course (they sent me a certificate), I did a food delivery order - it will come tonight (cheapo delivery slot). Mainly drinks and yoghurt but I have run out and using the 'corner' shop and other accessible places has been extremely costly.
Chopped another 5 bags of ivy and brought the bins back. Added other rubbish to bins (Ds3 had brought a black bag from their bedroom and filled another from the front room. Trekked to little Arseda to get drinks and bits to tide me over until the delivery (in my defence I did buy 2 x 2 l bottles of diet caffeinated drink from the corner shop but I think Beloved thought they were hers because I couldn't find them and when i went back to the little shop they had sold out and I bought 3 cans (which wasn't enough but not prepared to buy more at that price - other places were charging double). I am drinking more water but it's a slow process.
I had hoped to do more ivy but I sat outside little Arseda on their stack of compost bags and watched the most glorious sunset - multi shades of pink/ peach and orange with wisps of lilac, white and blue. I'm using the hoe as a walking stick. It has a long thick pole which comes up to my shoulder and helps me balance.
I'm hoping to continue my progress today and tomorrow (film club in the afternoon) but currently nursing right shoulder and left leg pain whilst giving my poor feet some much needed pampering.8 -
Evening turtles.Feels like autumn today, I love this time of year so wishing away the rest of August!
NSD today that’s 13/15, haven’t done much except go to work.My friends DS has done amazing in GCSEs so the family has invited us bowling tomorrow as a bit of a celebration. Haven’t budgeted for it but definitely going!! I’ll juggle things around from somewhere!
Grateful for, free footy camp day at local sports centre for DS, a few nice things over the weekend to look forward to and for school holidays nearing the end so we are all back in our routines.Lightbulb moment - 17/08/2017 £17,033. Today I am grateful for more rasps, for my pupils getting good grades, for dc enjoying another bouldering session, for a conversation with big sis that calmed the huge anxiety within me, for plans or at least vague outlines of plans, for sweet and salty popcorn.

Next Wednesday I will be the proud owner of a new soil stack + assorted bits. Cost about £1600 unless there are extra bits to be fixed. Lots more ivy chopped and a few biggish branches lopped off the trees. Was gifted leftovers for lunch and tea and my food delivery has just been (good job I knew exactly which yoghurts I had ordered as one box was wrongly numbered). Various bags to bins/ recycling.8

Another sunny day. DH still the same, he slept on the settee, as I had work today, whereas he wasn't leaving the house. I felt quite lethargic all day, so didn't do exercises first thing. Slight headache & dry eyes, so hoping I'm not getting the 'rona too. Had a letter in the post with an appointment for a chest x-ray in 2 weeks, so need to ideally keep clear. Constantly wearing a mask just in case!
Made tea & did a couple of rows of crochet whilst watching Bargain Brits on Benefits, then did the dishes & sewed a bear together. Bath & my book before bed.
Grateful for tests progressing, our cats, DH doing okUse it up, wear it out
Make do or do without!
If you see someone without a smile, give them one of yours 😃

Throws and cushion covers all washed, dried and back on the sofa looking all fresh, clean and plumped up. Prescription put into Health Centre just before lunch and they phoned in the afternoon to say it was ready for collection. That's service! Got lots of other things done as well.
So a few jobs to do today and it's the Boy's birthday so I must give him a call. He'll collect his presents when he comes for dinner on Sunday. Himself is going to Aldi. That's probably a mistake.
I'm just going to finish this lovely coffee and then I'll get started,

Still NSD 13/15 won’t be one tomorrow but hoping Sunday and Monday will be to achieve the target.
Silly day today entrance to where I drop DS off at was closed so made me late for work, couldn’t park for ages, then had a power cut at work!! Drove home and fuel light came on 🙄.
Got home late but cheered up after a pleasant evening spent with my best friend and her kids. Now in pjs waiting for Celebrity MC.
