NS&I website - going round in circles trying to log in

After yet another poor Premium Bonds' result this month, I've decided to take some money out, which means I'll have to 'run the gauntlet' of NS&I's 2FA implementation!Pray for me...0

You don’t need to cash in bonds on the website?
you can just ring up with your security details and give instructions for withdrawal?
and they usually answer pretty quickly1 -
Fair enough but they do answer very quickly in my experience!
and they are always very helpful1 -
Instead of messing about with my regular FF, I installed Chromium (with the intention of using it only for NS&I), set it up as securely as I dared, but accepting cookies, no deletion of cookies, no incognito, and... success! 2FA set up, logged in, bonds cashed out.
How long that continues with future logins remains to be seen, but for now, phew!

Call me old fashioned but I'm not prepared to abandon a browser I've used for years for several financial websites, just because NS&I have broken their website. I would only risk that if I was only going to log in one final time and remove all my money, then bin the new browser.Having so many customers download new browsers seems a security risk for them to me. What if they download a browser that some crook has managed to add something to, that makes it unsecure? NS&I are at fault, it's not me because my browser used to work there and still works everywhere else.0 -
They have millions of customers - and have hold of millions of pounds of their money
you would think they would test and test and test again to ensure all current operating systems and browsers work successfully
and they clearly haven’t??
luckily I’m on IOS which doesn’t seem to have any issue compared with chrome etc
it is not good enough really0 -
I can manage to log in OK and see details of my savings certificates, but not of my premium bonds, although I can check for prizes by entering the premium bond account number. If I attempt to register using my premium bond number it says I already have an account, when I log on again all I can see are my savings certificates. I did phone but got connected to a synthesized voice robot which did not comprehend my responses.

You should always use a separate browser for banking than you use for your day to day browsing. It's a basic security measure. If you don't want to abandon firefox you can download a standalone version of it from portableapps.com and use that to do your online banking and your regular firefox for browsing your day to day dodgy sites
