Getting the balance right

So the end of another heavy week, I wasnt meant to be in the role wearing the heavy PPE on Friday, however, things happened and that's where I landed up, it was a good session though, working with my favourite team and doing the intense, very complicated work that we tend not to do as run of the mill but when things go sideways and stuff needs fixed, it's great to know your on the right team to sort it out. After that one we said right let's get our lunch break then do one more simple job, god laughs while man plans, the one simple job was easy, then emergencies arrived and we landed up deep in it again, but it was all good, it did make us realise how much mental c0ncentration and work with problem solving goes into what we do, it's not just the physical risks.
Mr El and I have decided were taking the weekend to ourselves and just relaxing, I have pilates tomorrow but other than that nothing planned.
I have another heavy week next week work wise again and I go on call for 24 hours next weekend so that will also be heavy going... Not doing any overtime for a bit to give my body a break but will get back at it in a few weeks, I like and need to do overtime to get work done on this house but I also have to be realistic about my health and abilities to do it, Maybe 2 shifts a month or something will do, I will figure it out.
Money wise I have spent a fortune on things, but none of ot wasted money and things we do kindve need , I know we will pull it back3 -
Well done on the work. Have fun at pilates. Getting the balance right with work and £ is one of life's perennial struggles. We'll get there.Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

Good heavens. El, I didn't realise you were at physical risk in other ways too. Very sobering. It really sounds like you need to have a think about doing that long term, it honestly does2023: the year I get to buy a car3

I'm back on the finance bandwagon again, my spends of last week whilst not helpful were needed but now its time to knuckle down and get on top of things.
I'm considering Asna savings, OH work does this benefits things where you can top up a card, save 10% and spend it at certain shops, the idea of getting 10% off in asna is interesting, and something I think we should look into, we do have a ldl in our town but it's quite a drive away where as Asna we walk to within 10 mins.
We also pay our diesel money on the credit card and pay it off every month, but asna in our town has a petrol station and they have a credit card with 1% cash back, it may only be 50p a week cashback but add that to the 10% savings and hopefully we should start making inroads, have the asna reward card as well, have save nearly £3 on that this month, not that I have used ot every time.
Maybe I should put the money saved into a pot and put it towards something in particular, I've noticed I like to make sure I dont waste any savings.3 -
Although I am trying to save money, I am also trying to improve my breathing etc, I do a few excercises every day that are aimed at strengthening my lungs, its using a power breather, it isnt easy but i do get there.
I was also looking into plants that produce oxygen, of which there are a few, was considering getting some, specifically for the bedroom, but like everything they cost money, so will keep them on my wanted list but not yet on my to be bought list, maybe if i get some overtime or something. using the money saved from shopping would take me quite a while to save for it, but in a way it's not like it's going anywhere
Finances and health, that's basically it just now3 -
If it benefits your health then it will help your finances in the long run as you will be able to do more lucrative overtime 😎

There's an inbuilt biological imperative that makes us want plants for our wellbeing anyway. I have been buying orchids and other plants every few months / or being given them. That way I have greenery inside even when the curtains are shut - and usually something is flowering. Peace lily / orchid / stephanotis.
I would give yourself some plants if you think they'll help. Can't always be future focused and miss the present.Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

Oncall was the least busy weve been in a long time, only out for 3 hours, I kept thinking the phone was broken or something, not much money made because of it but to be honest we had a very hectic mentally draining day on the Friday so I was ok with it.
Not sure what has happened but we seem to have ran out of money, Mr El has had the bank cards so will need to take them back off him but the tub where we had over £60 is empty, I know I took £10 for something but other than that I havnt touched it, Mr El doesnt understand it either, so I reckon our next sit down for budget talks are going to have to be more focussed on keeping an eye on the money.
These are the ways we waste money, something we need to keep an eye on as we get closer to retirement, having and keeping to a budget isnt easy.
Mr El also needed something for the computer but that came from the computer budget, this is one of the savings pots Mr El insisted we didnt need and I insisted we did, he is now glad we had it, so it is all a learning process and I need to remember I have a fair few years on him when it comes to finances.
