In a way that would make sense. You have plausible deniability with name while retaining potential receipt of the spoils of your scam.

Nat73O said:I have had this letter and the subsequent text message about me failing to pay. I renewed my car insurance in June (stayed with my current provider after using a comparison site didn’t bring up anything better), and I have a Zego account for UberEats insurance so I’m wondering if there has been a data breach somewhere?
Please report your letter and text to:
Action Fraud
CIVEA
Zego
Your MP
your local Police station
And tell them all you suspect (until proven otherwise) that the data leak connection might (allegedly) be from the Zego database, because most people have reported that they hold a Zego account and it seems to be a common factor among the scam victims. Quite an unusual insurer in the scheme of things, so it is odd that so many of you do have Uber Eats or similar driver insurance.
Before starting your complaints to report this scam, firstly screenshot or print off the BPA email (in this thread or the other one) about the BPA having reported this scam to Action Fraud, in case your MP or the Police are daft enough to look at the letter and think it's a real bailiff!
It is 100% a scam, impersonating a bailiff and demanding money with menaces. Wonder how much money they've made from scared people thinking it's real.

The letter I got as a response from the actual inhabitants of the address on the scam letter.

I wouldn't destroy any correspondence, I'd laugh at it and share it wide and far. Evidence should be kept.

An interesting article in the Daily Mail all about scams
https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-11124295/Fraudsters-using-fake-Apple-Pay-Evri-NHS-links-scam-Britons-revealing-bank-details.html
They may well be interested in this bailiff scam. if so, they can dig out the info.
What we don't know is how many people have paid and an article that can be read by millions. Like or hate the Daily Mail, they do have a massive readership which often ends up on TV

In an attempt to see if ZEGO is the leak I have submitted an insurance quote and policy under a fake name using my previous vehicle reg (destroyed car) but an address I have access to. Let's see if a letter pops up and if it does then we have our data source.10

Maybe it's a legacy (but recent) data breach though rather than an ongoing data breach ... a subsequent lack of DRS letter doesn't rule ZEGO out as the source.Jenni x3

Waiting for their third wave of business name to come now to add to the additional data we already have.4 -

Aside from the abysmal English, note they say they will "try to pickup your vehicle"; that's because they have no right to.
