@darkvenom007 No one should be made to feel bad about reporting a genuine scam.

On the Action Fraud 'contact us' page, if you scroll down, you will see instructions on how to make a complaint about their service.  You should do this and include a link to this thread to show that your complaint is genuine and has been reported by many.  Include a link to the accountants home page too.

It may prompt Action Fraud to take this scam more seriously and prevent others being scammed.
    Action fraud simply collect data
Maybe they should be renamed Inaction Fraud.
  • I will complain about that.

To be honest I was going to pay although I was quite sure they are a scam. But the inaction from police made me think that if they do send some goons impersonating to be bailiffs, the police would have the same reaction. (Obviously an irrational thought after talking to just one person at Action Fraud. But I wasn’t in the best of senses).

I didn’t pay after I saw this thread and went to the accountants office.

That is outrageous. You must complain about that.

If Action Fraud can not be bothered to take things seriously, to take the time and effort to see past the face value of what they are being told then what is the point of their existence?

Thank you. The first time I spoke to them it took me 20 minutes of arguing to convince them to even report this. I will however report this issue.

You guys do amazing work here.

    @Kirstyg1979 and @darkvenom007

Please report these letters AND who you recently applied to for trade car insurance to:

    - Action Fraud with a link to this thread.  Insist they send the case for investigation and note that the fraudulent data leak being used by the scammers seems to stem from Zego or another Trade Car Insurance website. The scammer is not using DVLA data and is not a bailiff nor a parking firm nor a debt collector, and the British Parking Association has already reported it last month. This is an ONLINE DATA scam.

    - CIVEA (see details earlier in this thread, they are the bailiff Trade Body and have clout to rattle the right cages to stamp this abuse out). Impersonating a bailiff is a criminal offence.

    - BPA (Steve Clark) He will reply even though he is stepping down. His contact email is also given earlier in this thread.

    - Your MP.  Impress upon them that this is a scam and show them this thread. Ask them to lend weight to your complaint to Action Fraud as this scam must be stopped.
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

That would be a more accurate name, imo.

Coming back to this, the “I’m sure they’re following their procedure correctly” bit.

So what? I am also sure that they are following their procedure (to scam people) correctly too.

Please email your PCN story to watchdog@bbc.co.uk they want to hear about it.
Please then tell us here that you have done so.

  • I doubt that anyone has but just out of curiosity, have they ever sent any people impersonating bailiffs to people’s homes? I know this has been going on for ages under different names. I got the same text message as others just now

Despite our best efforts to offered you the opportunity to protect your vehicle or your belongings, you have failed to pay your debt on time. On 18/08/2022, our bailiffs will start carrying out enforcement visits and £235.00 will be added to the total amount that you owe. Our bailiffs have the power to seize your belongings from inside and outside your house without your permission. To avoid enforcement visits and additional fees, call: 0161 527 5747 and pay your debt. If our bailiffs should arrive at your home address, there will be nothing further that we can do.
