I'm back but I am no further forward in setting up a direct payment from any of my bank accounts - neither Lloyds, Nationwide or First Direct recognise Newday Ltd and I am unable to set up even a one off payment. It looks like they have 29 entries for other "stores" with the same sort code and account number though.

Or, if you don't get paper statements, log in online, go to Statements, open your statement as a PDF, scroll down to page 4 and look where it says "How to make a payment".

Success, it's only taken all day but at last I've got someone in Lloyds or Newday to get it sorted. It shows as
JOHN LEWIS PARTNERSHIP ANYDAY CARD, but it has appeared on the credit card transactions page. Phew.

Its a goodbye Newday for me.
Application went smoothly, excellent credit limit, additional card delivered.
Card was set up to be used, then was blocked before being used, it was then unblocked, tried to use it, card is blocked again.Account to be closed.0 -
I don't know if this has affected anyone else, but there are some (online?) retailers that aren't accepting the new card numbers.
I first had a problem with the DVLA, then I find I can't use it with Morrisons, and now I have failed to use it with Travelodge. It appears that the issuer information number (the 1st 6 digits of the card number) are being incorrectly interpreted as a mastercard debit card and some sites are rejecting the card number as not recognised!
Apparently Newday (or is it John Lewis CS) are trying to "fix" the problem as soon as possible. One would have though this type of problem could and should have been anticipated especially before rolling out to probably 10's or 100's thousands of customers!0 -
If you take a look through earlier posts in this topic, you will see that others have already reported this problem with certain sites - including John Lewis itself!

Thanks for the pointer. I have now had a look back (the thread is a bit long to check every single post!), and yes it appears it's not "just me". Strange then that when I spoke to Newday customer service today they knew nothing of the problem and couldn't understand why there was an issue (though they did admit to the DVLA problem).0

This is not actually all that long a thread - some threads have hundreds of pages! But you can search a specific thread by using the red magnifying glass to the right of the list of page numbers, although you do need to be fairly specific with your search terms.
