John Lewis Partnership Card

Looking back through the credit card receipts I have collected over the last 3 or 4 weeks, I notice that where detailed, they identify the card as a Mastercard Debit card. Either when Newday registered the new issuer information number they either registered incorrectly and some (online) systems are throwing it out, or it is simply a case that "databases" need to be updated and it is taking a while to work its way around all the retailers and credit card machines. Though Newday should have made sure this new number was pushed out soon enough for this not to cause a problem. Either way Newday has mucked it up...
I wonder if the management at John Lewis are aware of this SNAFU?0 -

This is just one of those things that happen when new account/card ranges are set up. I've had similar problems when I've been given a current account with a new-ish sort code, all you can do is complain to the organisations refusing to accept valid details and then give it a few months to shake out.
Another reason, among many, to not have a single payment card.0 -
I have just paid my car tax on the DVLA site without problem, so clearly that one has been sorted out.

If merchants are applying rules involving individual BIN codes, which is not something Mastercard encourage, it's incumbent on them to keep their lists up to date.
(Of course you won't reply, because you never do when challenged; even though your entire presence on these boards appears to be to challenge others, often without merit.)0 -
My card has just been refused by HM Passport Office's online application system! And I cannot imagine that the Passport Office is dilatory about updating their lists - especially since DVLA accepted the card two weeks ago.Newday first said that it was because the card was new (I have been using it for two calendar months), then blamed Mastercard for not organising the updates, then suggested I should enter it as a debit card rather than a credit card (which would have been untrue, and in any case is not possible on the Passport Office web site) and finally suggested I should use Apple Pay or Google Pay! I am surprised they didn't then suggest I should put a cheque in the post.I was then told I would be passed to a Senior Team member - but after waiting for 15 minutes, no such person came online. This is really outrageous - they should most certainly have got it sorted long before now. In fact, as I told them, they should have made sure it would be accepted by all major organisations before even issuing any cards to customers.0

My Aqua card simply shows as Aqua most of the time, occasionally NewDayLtd - Aqua.
It probably makes more sense that the card shows as Aqua or John Lewis or whichever the brand is of the card as that is what most consumers will recognise more obviously than the merchant behind the scenes which happens to be NewDay for the new JL card, but could just as easily be any other merchant. Who the merchant is behind the scenes facilitating the service is of little interest to the consumer much of the time.0 -

HM Passport Office will have some sort of BIN whitelist, for whatever reason, perhaps as a crude way of ensuring only personal and/or UK cards are used. The NewDay JL Mastercard BIN hasn't been added to the list, despite the fact as you say the BIN is at least 3 months old at this point. You need to take this up with HM Passport Office, NewDay won't be able to change the behaviour of individual merchants.

After holding the original card for years it is now closed.
Just looked at the app for details of the balance which will be due next month and there are now 9 fraudulent pending transactions for spend in the US showing.0 -
I too have 3 zero value fraudulent transactions showing all originating in St Louis. All 3 suppliers I had assigned my JLP card. For 2 suppliers I had already assigned another card. The 3rd supplier I had forgotten about as I had not used them in many years.0
