Having had the JL Card since it was introduced (husband is account holder and I have an additional card and do 90% of the spending) we found the application process for the new card very easy and were given the same £10k credit limit. Confirmation of acceptance for him and second card for me - no problem. Always pay off in full on spend over £3000 per month plus any “big” spends like holidays. His card arrived. Nothing for me. Logged onto the system “no additional cardholder”. Applied again - pin arrived for me 2 weeks ago but no card. Husband has been using his card but has to insert card and enter pin more often than contactless works (all well under the contactless limit). He can’t find the details to set New Day up as a payee from our bank account. They say he has to use the app. Getting annoying.Having read reviews about problems galore we applied for an Amex card today (and accepted with an even higher limit) - calculated that we will earn over £400 per annum in cash back! Once that arrives we will dump the JL card and just use our “back up” no frills Mastercard for anywhere not accepting Amex.0

If you call them they will give you the details you need to set it up from your bank.
I would rather pay the bill in the way you describe 😀1 -

I've had no problems applying, have been given a higher limit and the card has worked perfectly. However it looks like a glitch with DVLA. I have tried to pay my car tax using the DVLA online service and failed....."Invalid card type for card number entered". Double checked everything and my end is correct and I chose the correct Mastercard.Downshifted

I applied for the new JL partnership card a month or so ago and due to being retired now and consequently drop in income as we are living off investments the limit was much lower. I have been travelling for the last month and my old partnership card is now closed so New Day wrote and increased my limit back up to what the old card was as they said they had now had the chance to review limits etc. So for those who got a lower limit hold fast and it may well be increased back after the old card closes.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free Wannabe, Budgeting and Banking and Savings and Investment boards. Boy, are the New Day lot keen to communicate with me. When my statement was due I got a text saying my card had a payment due and I didn't have a direct debit set up so suggested I set up a direct debit. I got email reminders to activate my card, even after I'd activated it. They also send out rather a lot of 'marketing messages' including two within the last 10 days, on balance transfers, and several which keep extolling all the benefits of the card but keep pushing you to download the app. Apparently I 'opted in' to marketing messages but that's rectified now.
At least the old card didn't bombard you with messages several times a week.0 -
Re setting up electronic bank payments to the new JL card.....the details for doing this are on the back of your statement as they were for the old JL card.

Well it's been a bit of a hit and miss affair with the card since I last posted about problems with the DVLA.I had a long webchat with Newday, apparently companies (like DVLA) have to update their databases so that the new card provider is in their systems.I've had the card stopped by their Fraud Department, very efficient and I was up and running in 10 minutes. I was paying a bill by telephone and the company had apparently typed the wrong name and payment was refused and I was immediately blocked.Morrisons are a complete pain when using the contactless payment machine, it has never worked. But inserting the card and using the PIN is OK.Just tried to pay my bill using Bank Transfer via Lloyds but they do not have an option for them when setting up a new payment. I then went into my JLewis Card Account and paid a token amount using my Lloyds debit card, which has worked and shows in Lloyds as Newday.I'm getting a tad fed up with all the faffing around but will give it a go for 6 months.0

Weird that just one shop is having issues with contactless - these are the sort of issues I used to have which Amex all the time (less so nowadays) but Amex is of course an entirely different payment system. On online banking you'll just have to set a payee up manually, the details should be on your statement. NewDay can't force individual banks to update their databases of known business payees, I don't think. In any case you shouldn't rely on them, the details they prefill often differ to the ones your card issuer asks you to use and in that instance you're reliant on their systems forwarding the payment to the right place.0

My app isn’t working , I can’t change my details as it’s saying they are wrong when they are not and it’s saying I owe a certain amount of money when I could see the payment on the app as pending the other day
it really is appalling0 -
And ironically I’m couldn’t pay for something on the John Lewis site using it0
