Rebekah, when I first set up my Kroo account I used a special character in the password & it wouldn't let me proceed.  When I tried something different without the special character it accepted it immediately.  I don't know if it was a glitch, or like some other financial institutions Kroo don't allow the use of special characters. Unfortunately they don't tell you when creating the password
  • I guess that was a glitch. I used a mixture of uppercase, lowercase, special characters and numbers in my password, and it worked just fine.

I had a very brief love affair with Kroo as I had no problems with the app, and several deposits I made today showed instantly. But it's all over now. My final deposit for today, which would have brought my Kroo balance to 5 digits, was around 1pm today. It left my Santander account ok but then Kroo said they needed to 'review' it. The app asked a couple of questions which were easy enough to answer - yes, it was money from an account in my name, and yes, it was me who made the deposit. It is now 9 hours later and they are still reviewing it, or not reviewing it, as the case may be. I will be taking all my money out of Kroo at my earliest opportunity and it will all go into other accounts, most likely mainly CHIP. Can't deal with this nonsense of reviewing incoming payments.

When banks are fastidious with checks, it's usually with outgoing payments. I do recall Chase's algorithm being overly aggressive by blocking numerous transactions/standing orders to established payees, and then there's the obvious Santander who assumes all their customers are lying.

With Kroo being such a new bank, are they erring on the side of extreme caution by holding incoming payments? It's rather unusual behaviour in my experience.

Oooh now i'm through to password stage but it won't light green for me to continue

That means your password isn't meeting their requirements. Try adding a number or a special character or if theres any part of your name in it try taking that out.

It was 9 digits with a number and a !
Did it have a capital letter?

    Yes

Seems a bit concerning that people are having these payment review issues, although I transferred a high 4-figure sum in yesterday and it was credited in under a minute, and again today without issue. Are these larger incoming sums that have been held for checks, or have I just been lucky so far?

Or are they from a particular bank(s)? Santander's name keeps cropping up. Could also be patterns e.g., lots of smaller deposits followed by a large deposit within a short space of time.

Larger sum and took a shade over 7 hours. I chased up and asked if interest would be applied while they held it, and it appeared within about 2 mins which is probs coincidence. I’m trying the same amount again this morning to whittle away my Zopa pot
