What do you reckon these people are all accidentally triggering? The boot release?diystarter7 said:
Fair enough but can you speak for the other millions, no you can't.shiraz99 said:
I've never accidentally triggered my keys by having them in my pocket whilst driving.diystarter7 said:
good idea "pocket" lol then the fob is accidentally triggered. If I every get a keyless entry car I'd never put it my pocket when driving for that very reasonuser1977 said:
A pocket? And/or just attach them to your keyring with your other keys? Or do you have a keyless house?photome said:
I am not a fan of keyless ignition ( got to find somewhere to put my key everytime)Ibrahim5 said:Who started all this stop/start button stupidity? It drives me mad. What is wrong with a key in the ignition? I thought with time I would find an advantage but I just can't. What is the advantage even supposed to be? I have never seen a topic go so far off the rails !
Has the car been rejected ?
Has the OP, @richgl1953 any further news ?2 -
Would be much simpler in the ignition rather than keep taking it out of my pocket to lock the car plus it’s not comfortable in my pocket with the amount of driving I doshiraz99 said:

I have had keyless ignition for past 6 years doesn’t mean I have to like it0 -

I have to say that is scary to happen at that speed I hope you get sorted xIt is not an unknown problem - in the past there have been cases with cars (ordinary ignition as well as keyless) and it has been traced to *rogue signals* - Years ago on the M1 going past the radio towers at Daventry there was a problem (cannot recall the make/model of car) - This was over a 400/500 yard stretch - if you just allowed the car to freewheel you ran out of it. If you braked and pulled onto the hard shoulder then when the vehicle was recoverred no problem could be found.Have known similar problems with TVs when they changed channels on their own. Again a rogue signal.0

There were problems with both Ford and Rover remote keys losing their code. Problem was traced to having the ignition key on a bunch of other keys and I think it was magnetic interferance.

I have driven BMW, Mercedes, Volvo, Ford, Toyota and Mitsubishi with keyless. None of them had any engine start or stop buttons on the key fob at all. Which ones do you mean?diystarter7 said:
Perhaps you could try to understand that there are other marques other than "Ford" lol before you start pontificating on this matter. I'd strongly recommend you look and investigate at least a dozen of the marques before wrongly assuming what appliesSiliconChip said:diystarter7 said:

I think you need to get one and understand how they work before pontificating on the subject. Certainly with my Ford keyless entry there is nothing on the fob that could be pressed that has any impact on stopping or starting the engine.
to your "Ford" may not be applicable to other makes.0 -
The key wasn’t in a pocket or bag, it was in the front storage. The manufacturer cannot find what caused it but can see it happened!0

Glad you're back. Can you answer the earlier question then - have you actually formally rejected the car yet?richgl1953 said:The key wasn’t in a pocket or bag, it was in the front storage. The manufacturer cannot find what caused it but can see it happened!1 -
I'm withdrawing from the thread as the OP is not prepared to declare what make/model it is. I'm sure that I could have helped even more as could other posters here.
Good luck I hope you get the compensation you are seeking.0 -

Can you also clarify whether your key-fob has a button on it that could possibly have been pressed to stop the car?
That will at least rule out one possibility that has been suggested in the thread.
Must have left you justworriedabit so it is entirely understandable you want to get to the bottom of what actually happened. If it was a one-off event, that may never be reached.1
