Did the brakes suddenly jam on as well? If not, I think you’re being overly dramatic and it won’t help your case with the dealer. You need to take a rational view of things and understand what is achievable and what isn’t. Rejecting the car and getting a refund, getting a replacement car or even just getting them to figure out what is wrong with it and fixing it should all be possible outcomes.richgl1953 said:It’s more a question of what might have happened, a multi car pileup on the M1 in the overtaking lane, where the smart motorway has no hard shoulder. The manufacturer doesn’t know what caused it, so a possible recall needed.
But suing them for compensation is just ridiculous and the last thing this country needs is a group of ambulance chasing lawyers seeking compensation for motorists every time their car breaks down because of what “could have happened.” Yes, it was on a smart motorway so the risks of something devastating happening might have been higher than if it had been on a normal motorway with a hard shoulder. But you can’t blame the car manufacturer for that. You need to blame our increasingly incompetent government for thinking it was a good idea to take away the hard shoulders.Northern Ireland club member No 382 :j2 -

I am now certain it was not an accidental push of the stop-start button but possibility of key fob in the pocket being accidental pressed.0 -
A pocket? And/or just attach them to your keyring with your other keys? Or do you have a keyless house?photome said:

good idea "pocket" lol then the fob is accidentally triggered. If I every get a keyless entry car I'd never put it my pocket when driving for that very reasonuser1977 said:

I think you need to get one and understand how they work before pontificating on the subject. Certainly with my Ford keyless entry there is nothing on the fob that could be pressed that has any impact on stopping or starting the engine.

Perhaps you could try to understand that there are other marques other than "Ford" lol before you start pontificating on this matter. I'd strongly recommend you look and investigate at least a dozen of the marques before wrongly assuming what appliesSiliconChip said:diystarter7 said:

Trust me, I've meet many people that are not sure what's what other than the steering, and pedals in a car.unforeseen said:On my car there is a storage slot to put the key card when in the vehicle.
IMO the best place is to stick the key in a hole, this stop/star business is just a gimmick bought back from 50 odd years ago0
