For goodness sake don't buy the Audi. The ID4 is fine. How Audi and Porsche can make such a total mess of what is essentially the same car is perplexing. And then they charge you loads more money for them! (the lease PCP deals look god but that for a reason <taps nose>)

End of the day, I look at it like this. Just use which charger is avaiable in the location I'm stopping, rather than going out of the way to save a few pence.

GIven the amount you are saving charging from home the rest of the time.

That's exactly what many of the YouTube reviewers have been saying. It's amazing, but Skoda are now considered near the top of the VAG group for quality where once they were perceived to be at the bottom. One reviewer said interior quality was now above that of both VW and Audi.

I have no idea how Audi continue to get away with charging the premiums they do. I've never liked Audi's (just not to my taste), but I will go take a look at the Q4 just to make sure that's still the case.

I've heard more than one reviewer say the Skoda interiors are better than Audi, these days.

TBF, the Skoda cars did drop their budget pricing along the way.

When we bought out Tesla, the Enyaq Coupe which you are looking at was some £20k more expensive!

You take your choice I guess. If I go to the Poplar garden centre which is less than a mile off the M1 rather than Gridserve at Toddington I save about £10 on a 20%-80% charge. Well worth the detour for me. The other examples I quoted are or similar. None are far out of the way, all took only a little research to find and all are substantially cheaper than the motorway services (or equivalent). But then I would never fill up with the petrol at motorway services when I had an ICE car either.

My choice is stopping where I need comfort or food/drink break. While Tesla are cheaper many sites have no facilities. So stopping twice is a waste of time.

That’s great if driving round looking for the cheapest fill up is your thing, but if I am going on a long journey I just want to get the miles under my belt without detours.

I think the analogy of avoiding expensive motorway petrol stations is overused. If you start a journey off in a petrol or diesel car with a nearly full tank then in most cars there aren’t many journeys where you would need to fill up on the motorway network. Even Exeter to Edinburgh is only 438 miles - within the range of most mid sized to large ICE cars. I can’t recall ever filling up an ICE car at motorway services and I doubt many other MSErs would have done so.

On the subject of Skoda, then yes they are a well regarded brand but when it comes to value for money if sales figures are anything to go by aren’t some of the Chinese brands an even better option? I am currently on holiday in a nice little village in Warwickshire and staggered by the the number of large Chinese cars parked on the drives of very nice houses. I hate to admit this but it seems the stigma of the cheap poorly made Chinese car is long gone.

Most of the ones I now use have a Costa or similar nearby (e.g. Rugby, Banbury, Belford, Harlington). Cambridge Tesla has Costa less than 10 minutes walk away which is fine when on a 20-30 min charge. None of these are terribly far out of the way. Some are no more of a detour than a service station. It's just a few minutes research to find them. e.g.
