EV range

Do you live in a rural area? If not then this is yet another pointless reason. 🙄
And that's a Daily Fail article - of course they're well known for reasoned, informative articles; they never indulge in clickbait sensationalism at all, do they. 🙄Jenni x4 -

This proves what I was saying, when I started this thread

I assumed you didn't want an EV because you had the only 80-90% efficient petrol car in the World, around 4x better than everyone else.MouldyOldDough said:https://mol.im/a/10988153
This is why I don't want an EVMart. Cardiff. 8.72 kWp PV systems (2.12 SSW 4.6 ESE & 2.0 WNW). 28kWh battery storage. Two A2A units for cleaner heating. Two BEV's for cleaner driving.
For general PV advice please see the PV FAQ thread on the Green & Ethical Board.3 -
EV’s in rural areas are not a problem, I don’t care about local charging infrastructure, I don’t use it I need chargers 100 to 150 miles away.2

"No one wants to find themselves in the middle of nowhere miles from the nearest charging point without anything left in the battery". No of course they don't, that's why people with EVs plan ahead slightly so they are not left in this position. I live in a rural area and there are more charging points than petrol stations in a radius of, say, 30 miles. Yet inexplicably I neither run out of petrol (for I have an ICE vehicle) nor charge (for I also have an EV) because I refuel before I run out. My refueling patterns are different - the ICE gets filled up about every 6-8 weeks because it doesn't get used much, the EV gets charged up more often (depending on how much it's used). And the place where I most often fuel the EV is at my home, which is really convenient.

Damn you and your common sense solution to an imagined problem!ElefantEd said:MouldyOldDough said:https://mol.im/a/10988153

No you don't 'want' an electric car because you, like many others, have made so many silly comments about them you can't now back down. Possibly you have even have started to believe your own comments but this seems unlikely.MouldyOldDough said:https://mol.im/a/10988153

This proves what I was saying, when I started this threadThis is what you said when you started this thread - not sure how you prove a question (hint - assertations which are provable don't have questions marks after them)
How is an EV range decided ?
“Car and Driver” test EV’s at a steady 75mph – which I don’t understand !
At what speed is maximum range/efficiency achieved ?
Are they tested for range with aircon and other accessories running ?

Even if you live rurally with poor infrastructure an EV can be fine.MouldyOldDough said:https://mol.im/a/10988153

Maybe you should live somewhere more civilized
I live rurally, albeit next to a town with a train station. It's got 20 chargers.
You're naturally still deliberately missing the point that very few EV owners actually need to use public chargers.
Even then, a daily mail fake hysteria 16miles between chargers are a non issue given that most EVs have a range of over 100 miles, or not far off the average weekly mileage.3
