What is your average daily use? (Just for fun)
![[Deleted User]](https://us-noi.v-cdn.net/6031891/uploads/defaultavatar/nFA7H6UNOO0N5.jpg)

Good morning everyone
We live very rurally in a farming community, and are lucky to have two fires which provide our heat and which we use for cooking.
I have started reading our electric meter weekly and making a note of our usage. Our average daily consumption is now 3 kw/h per day, which seems pretty good to me. The main ‘culprits’ are the washing machine (we get very muddy up here!) and the shower, which is electric.
What is your average daily consumption looking like at present? Just for a bit of fun
😊
Going totally off grid for electric isn’t possible sadly as I have no means to install solar panels, so keeping it low is the best I can do. We have an LPG tank but literally never use gas so apart from the standing charge it sits there about 80% full unused.
We are off grid for water xx

4kWh for me. The biggest culprit is the UV pond filter and pump which accounts for about 1.5KWh of that total0

If I go away on holiday and just leave the freezer, SKY box, router and a couple of video cameras running together with a couple of auto lights, we get away with around 2.5kwh a day.
At this time of year we use around 7-10kwh a day, sometimes a bit more depending on whether we use the cooker, washing machine or dishwasher (we are all electric so the hot water is heated by our heatpump)
In the winter our consumption can get up to 50-60kwh a day if it's everso cold as we have electric heating via the heat pump.
Averaged it's around 7200kwh a year (= 20kwh a day), some years it's more (up to 8500kwh) and some it's less (down to less than 6000kwh) depending on when we go on holiday and how cold or long the winter is.
Never under estimate the power of stupid people in large numbers0 -
Current daily average use is 10kWh electricity and 46kWh gas.Electricity is fridge/freezer, electric shower, internet router plus Wifi router, NAS drive, alarm system, electric garage door (6W in standby - love it too much to switch off!), background lights on apps & timers, combi boiler, appliances and TV on standby. If I switch everything off when we go away except for fridge, alarm, boiler and external security lighting, it goes down to under 3kWh per day. Computers hibernate when not in use and one is used daily for at least one hour. Usage doesn't vary a lot through the year.Gas is of course very seasonal. About 3kWh per day when the heating is off and 90+kWh with heating on.

After our fixed rate ended in Jan 22, I have been on a purge to decrease our electricity usage. 3 bed bungalow, gas central heating, so electricity for cooking, cleaning, lighting, entertainment etc. We do have an aquarium which is on notice to go when the latest lot of fish reach the end of their lives. My biggest saving has been reducing the use of the oven by batch cooking and making more use of the slow cooker and cutting down on the number of washing machine 40 degree full cycles.
Jan 22 - 15 kWh
Feb 22 - 11.5 kWh
Mar 22 - 9.5 kWh
Apr 22 - 9.5 kWh
May 22 - 8 kWh
I think I can get it down to 7 and would be happy with that.

April-May 3bed semi. Gas 4.2Kwh Elec 4.9Kwh. daily average. One weekend away.Still on a decent fix till Oct 2023 so not trying very hard to reduce.I am not a cat (But my friend is)0

Over the last year my average use 7.45 kWh/day currently @ 5.90 kWh/day over May. Am hoping that I can get under 2500 kWh electricity for the whole year if I am able to continue with economies/careful use.0

Our electricity usage this month. We only use gas for cooking and heat enough water for showers using the immersion. Using our very old gas Rayburn to heat a whole tank of hot water would bankrupt us ! We were away for the 27th .From Scottish Power......

Last month's usage - quite easy to spot my days in the office!

42kwh gas average over the year for heating/hot water and hob and ~ 13kwh leccy. Leccy too high mainly because we have a venerable fridge/freezer grumbling away in the garage with the food overflow.0

Average over the last month, 1.6 kwh leccy and 0.4 kwh gas per day.0
