How to get Stuff done when you are overwhelmed
1 BRAIN DUMP
Get it all set down on paper (not in your head or on your phone)
Sort out what is urgent, what is important, What can wait.
2 ACTION not Anxiety
JUST START
3 PROGRESS not Perfection
Aim for 'good enough', don't waste another hour or 2 (day or 2, month or 2, year or 2 - there's never going to be a perfect time) making it 'perfect'. Perfect is more about your own ego than the task in hand, in the end it can be another form of procrastination. GET IT DONE

Good Morning 🌞
Another lovely morning! Was reading your post apple about f0xh0les haha. I'm going to miss bright mornings and coming home in the sunshine... though I do like that feeling of hibernation and going in, that comes with the long winter nights. It's too much of a good excuse for me to be anti-social though haha, and comfort eating seems to escalate. If we actually slept for a few months like any sane creature then all that extra weight would see me through lol.
Thanks Toni's Friend. Am trying to be positive in my own life and send out some positivity to others. I wonder a lot what my Mum thinks - does she know she is in a home... does she remember anything about her life... Alzheimer's is such a difficult thing to study I suppose. I suppose if memories do arise they perhaps sink back underneath the surface. I still feel guilty for putting her in a home - but when I do - I imagine myself having a conversation with my 'well Mum' who - if she saw how hard it was trying to cope and manage her at home, even with 4 double carer visits a day - and see the impact it was having on Dad, and all of our well-being... she would have said 'move me into care' I'm certain of it. She is safe, her needs are met, and she now gets mental stimulation I could not give unless I gave up work. So I send my love when I think of her and visit when I can. It's the hardest thing that's ever happened in my life - nothing really prepares you for it. That said - it has been a really hard but valuable lesson in self-care - making a tough decision for the greater good of not only myself, but for my Dad and siblings too.
Firstview - yes I find intermittent fasting quite easy. I've never been too fussed or hungry at stupid o'clock when I get up for work... so it's quite easy. Time will tell if it helps me break my plateau. I've been trying to lose 13kg for about 5 years now haha!!! On the plus note - I swapped out crisps for popcorn (44kcal per bag vs 120kcal) however the minute I sit down I just demolish the lot. Last night watching a movie all 6 (10g) bags went haha. I incorporated into my daily calorie allowance but annoyed I have no self control when it comes to snacking/watching tv.
On day 20 of mindfulness and habit tracking for about 17 of those. Is going really well - and I'm proud of myself for getting to bed for 22:00-22:30 every night pretty much.
Today I am grateful for:
1) Fun and laughter in work yesterday with old colleagues
2) My evening walks in the park - always feel recharged
3) For the great advice grandmanerd posts. Always find the posts really great. Thanks x
Today I send love and best wishes out to my little Dad who spends his days on his own with the TV now, and who I know misses Mum a great deal. We haven't always seen eye to eye, but the last few years back up North have mended our relationship and he's not a bad old stick really. He's been through so much - and am proud he finds it in him to carry on and enjoy the little things in life.

Right am in a bit of a cloud as just had to take money out of isa as a tie over for the weekend. This broken elbow is costing me. But all will be good as of Monday, so I would rather do that than have accounts and shopping in a disarray. Also as tomorrow as is a pre-planned day out and there will be some costs.

Aim for 'good enough', don't waste another hour or 2 making it 'perfect'.. GET IT DONEYou peeking through my windows again grandma-nerd? Sat yesterday and did a master list of all the bits on mini lists that are cluttering up every surface in the living room. Trying to fit in a bucket-and-spade holiday (UK) somewhere with the kids in long summer hols, when in-laws want a visit as well, and I am actually going to be working (for money!!) for 2 weeks of it, plus anything the house sale/probate process throws at me.There are some good YHA bargains out there - some North Norfolk, some Wales - worth a look if you are considering it.Booked the ferry for tomorrow morning to not mess up the school run/ volunteering/ DH's work etc, too much - everyone else to take into account is stressful, and I do not do stress well. So have re-embarked on the diet, and after 3 days am back to 1lb over what I was when I fell off the wagon last month. All in all progress.Right, off to pack a tiny bag, find the sat-nav, and remember the phone and laptop charger, ready for a 4.30am start tomorrow morning.to all the turtles for their support and utter brilliance in the face of a shonky government not fit for purpose.
Did anyone get a receipt? cos I think we deserve a refund.4/10/22One Year Mortgage Free Yay!

grandmanerd said:Some good news. At my appointment with the practice nurse (diabetic review) my results had improved a bit from last time but are still higher than prior to that. However we are going to try increasing my daily dose of my current medication, so I will take it 3 times a day. Best of all I have lost weight, about a stone in 3 months - think it might be more but need to find the notebook it's written down in. So carry on, keep trying my best and more blood tests in 3 months.
I've also managed to access some more accounts so have been able to do an online SM order for delivery for the first time in months. It may not sound like much but even though I have a lot of tinned and dry goods in, going to buy the other items I need has really been taking it out of me. I have also been able to fill in my MH questionnaire ahead of Wednesday's appointment (and will be able to get my video link for the actual appointment.
Got off at a later stop on my way back from the infirmary as I wanted to check in with an estate agent - well that one's off the list as they had a high step and 2 half doors but only one open. Not good for me and the walker. Renewed my library books online and checked bin collections. Currently on hold with the PIP people, sent the form off on Friday but the latest deadline is today so need to ask for an extension until it gets there. Writing this one handed and jotting down things on my list as they occur to me. Was able to help a woman with parking fees at the infirmary - found my little bag of taxi money in a corner of my handbag - she needed coins for the machine and only had a fiver.Instead of various notebooks have you considered using a diary for health details appointments and the outcome plus contact phone numbers, email info forthcoming appts and all health and wellbeing things? With youngest having fortnightly apptst with our GP and regular consultant , counsellor. physio etc appts I found an academic diary running mid year August to beginning of September the following year the perfect solution to tracking everything including meds changes etcI started ordering the mid year BusyB diaries a number of years ago and they have meant i can easily look back if a consultsnt asks question re meds pros and cons and all sorts of other things. The dairy means it's easy to look back when needed. I've been also using them since the pandemic to track where I've been and when. They first came to mind when dd would have a hospital appt near the year end and i could put the next appt in Spring in the diary before we left the hospital. can track all the different jabs and ups and downs to give a big picture our GP really likes the idea as i can just whip it out of my bag to answer a questionI first found them on the Big RiverSite but later found a cheaper source. Fibro foghas been heavy lately so can't remember the name of the other companPrices on the Big River site aren't a lot considering the amount of info in one place.I order the A5. It has two pages opposite each other each covering the same week. My new one starts 1st Aug this year and has a side column on each page for reminders. Lined pages every now and then for notes and three pages for contact details. Some have pockets for odds and ends and there are calenders for each month very useful for those like myself who can't always remember what day it is!They're also useful when filling in DDs PIP and ESA forms. A few decision makers have mentioned the amount of detail in dds forms which matches Superdocs GP reports now they don't want Drs letters. He just renamed themGPs reports and the decisionmakers do read them at least the ones who've included their reasons for the decision have and hers are always enhanced.Well done on the weight loss. You are better going back to food deliveries rather than dragging around the shops. I walked round to our Coop earlier to stock up with a list and the fairies seem to have put a silly amount of chocolate in my trolley. Bad idea to go in a shop when you shop a bit mindlessly at times.Hope all the Turtles are ok especially Beanie I hope the physio can help with lessening the falls. Don't worry about getting older. I was surprised to find I'll be 74 in a few days. I am slower due to the Arthritis and Fibro but in my head to quote the song I'm forever young. I was the same age youngest is now when she was born so I'm grateful to not feel old.. We'll keep on plodding Beanie . It started raining earlier so I may sleep tonight I'm hopeless in the heat. We aren't used to it in the NW . I've been muttering the Summer of 76 for weeks. Once lived never forgotten. We are all blond or red haired and my two eldest very young struggled in 76 as I slathered on the suncream and put their sun hats back over and over again. That's when I discovered blackout linings for bedroom curtains and I can still remember the words to Morning time Ride .singing them to sleep in a slow boring voice.Sometimes i fell asleep on the bedroom floor and they stayed awake..pollyx
