@mothernerd is the plan to sell grannynerd's house? or to rent it out?Actually it does not matter, the redecorating costs are an investment. The house will sell/rent quicker and may fetch a better price. It will be less work, less stress, and will get you financially independent quicker, and free up more time for you to do what you want to do. Apart from that - you have no business even considering getting up a ladder and waving your arms above your head while you cant manage the stairs. I vote for hiring a painter. Time is of the essence.4/10/22One Year Mortgage Free Yay!

f0xh0les it's only one wall (hopefully). DS2 filled a few cracks last summer and was going to come back and paint the wall. He's even bought some green paint to make it a feature wall, but mummy to be and I overruled him and said keep it neutral for selling. In theory there's a bit of paint in the shed from the original can which will do the one wall. If it shows up the rest I will have no hesitation in bringing someone in (might try ex-gf's grand-daughter and her bf, they offered last time). It's fairly clean, it's just that I struggle with mopping even my tiny bathroom.
My brother still wants to sell but I may suggest renting - there was an article in the borough newsletter, I think, asking people to lease their property to the council - they would deal with tenants, maintenance and repairs. Thought as prices are rocketing we might get enough income from that (there must be a demand for accessible properties) to see us both through to retirement but still retain an appreciating asset (which one of us might really need in times to come). However if he still wants to sell, that's what I'll do - not going to argue.

@ditty1234 how is the broken elbow? I am imagining all sorts of ways you could have done it. Wrestling a bear, saving an OAP from a runaway lorry, attacking a burglar, meeting a Dubious Duke in a Darkened Dwelling.....

Good Afternoon ⛅
Is nice to be back after a 2 month break (of sanity!). 01st of a new month... first day back at work (on reduced hours now) and have a desire to get myself back on track again. Have had a few financial wobbles and my debt has accumulated somewhat - but have got all my big spends (car MOT/service, dental work, paid for a course of counselling sessions) out the way. I figured if I wait until I can afford to pay for them outright I might be in a bad way - so sometimes needs must. Am transferring all debt on to a 0% interest for 2 years credit card (approved) so at least I am just paying back what I've spent.
Budgets adjusted and set... I'm all good to go... 👌🏻
Starting off small with getting my habits back on track - and not beating myself up if I don't achieve perfection! ⭐
Today I am grateful for:
1) Support from my Manager at work and a nice welcome back
2) Sunshine which lifted my spirits
3) For new connections forming in my life
Today = a SPEND day.
Catch you all later x⭐ DEBT FREE : 18/02/2025 ⭐

Afternoon all
Another new month. Isn't time flying by?
NSD No 1
So, banking done (Himselfs', mine and joint), budgets set, meal plan done till Saturday. double checked the birthdays this month so I don't forget anyone this time and things that need done all written down in my big notebook (no doubt be added to as the month goes on.
I promise, Mothernerd, that even though I binned all my old makeup last month I won't buy any more. Don't need any toiletries - I've got enough to open a chemist. This month I am concentrating on getting my skin, hair and nails into better condition. I will eat sensibly and I will lose weight so no point in buying any new clothes. Can't exercise but I will try to walk more. Really need to start getting out and about anyway.
Today I walked to visit the Boy. Only a mile but better than nothing. Tidied his flat and brought his washing here for me to do. All done and out drying. My weekly good deed.
Need to get back on top of the housework and declutering.
Well, must get on.
Have a good evening.
Have adventures. laugh a lot and always be kind.8 -
I'd like to join please ☺️6

Evening Turtles. I too am waiting with bated breath to hear ditty’s story! Sorry I have been awol for a couple of days, I have been proper poorly. A woman from OH’s office came in with a stinking cold and gave it to OH and another lady who passed it on to her son and OH brought it home and gave it to me, DD and DS2. So that’s 6 victims of someone’s selfish stupidity. I lost money as I can’t go to a 99 yo with a heavy cold, but I did go to my 75 yo who is in good health normally. DS2 has had to have 2 days off, losing money as well. I could strangle that woman!
All budgets set and bills paid. I must admit I am very worried about doing June with no toiletries or clothes as we are off on holiday on 2 July, but I did do the normal monthly HB shop last week so I hope to have enough and I will just have to lose some more weight to fit into my old clothes!
I am claiming my first NSD as I only had to go to HB for more emergency cold supplies.
