abundant, you're always welcome and don't worry about not doing so well, WinterWarrior, we all struggle some of the time and some of us struggle most of the time. All we can ask of ourselves and each other is that we try. Yeah a gang of gay men would be really helpful - decorating, cooking, cleaning, helping me destress. And DS3 is totally comfortable around gay men.
I'm surrounded by chaos and would get totally overwhelmed by the avalanche of 'to do's, Can't do them all so will just keep picking out bits I can do and trying to make things a bit better. A few spokes in my wheel (needing readjustment). My nieces' other grandma died on Monday evening (another no more interventions amputee). Elder niece is back from Amsterdam today and we were going to meet up and sort the next lot of estate stuff - don't think she's going to be up for that (went to the bungalow yesterday and she has managed to move all the things she's having except the 2 wardrobes (I'd given her a key and a friend had use of the work's van for an hour or so) and maybe the garden pots.
Nieces and their mum are going to be tied up (and needing support) for the next 2-4 weeks and ongoing, so I might have to liaise with my brother on some things (going very carefully so as not to panic him - let's be honest, I'll be sorting stuff and telling him when the man and van or whatever is going to arrive on his doorstep). Can post the letters that need his signature, rather than niece taking them but not posting cash to him - will have to wait for a chance to do that.
The bill I went to mum's to collect was not there, so I'm going to write to them (not spending another half a day on the phone). Think I'm going to have to allow for some bus fare money and collect the remaining garden pots myself (one by one?). Didn't do any weeding so that's still on the list and I need to plant something to hold back the weeds - bought a selection of perennials on offer and might plant some quick growing veg. May have to do painting/ cleaning myself or pay someone (yes pay someone) as DS1 and DS2 are going to be busy. Ditto for promised help sorting my garden.
Of the things I sorted earlier in the week, the recipe and ingredients box is scheduled for Sunday delivery (when I hope I'm on a train to Wales) so need to postpone that (preferably put it back a week). I'm not seeing the recipe box as a long term thing - just another way of learning a few new recipes (I've signed up to a blog and she's done a list of her 7 favourite bloggers and one of those is vegan recipes). The train ticket confirmation has the wrong date so need to fix that. Next week's appointment has had to be moved to the following Monday (that's simple).
And (drumroll please) DS3 is looking at houses. DS1 phoned him yesterday and he suggested looking at the next town up (DS3 was thinking he would have to carry each item of furniture from this house to the new one). Having them next door would have been convenient but DS3 being prepared to fly the nest a whole 4 miles away is to be encouraged. My new strategy is that I am not throwing them out but it is time for them to set up on their own (I don't think Beloved is entirely comfortable with me in the house, they've both got used to having this as their own exclusive space).
The penny's dropped that it isn't enough to just wait around putting a DD into a help to buy ISA for the next 2 years before taking the next step, he needs to look at the market, be ready to pounce on any bargains. I suggested they need to buy rather than rent as many rentals won't let them have the chinchillas (I am not having the chinchillas) and they don't have anyone to use as references. There will be setbacks but for now he's engaged and possibly even enthusiastic about it.
I will start talking with them about which furniture and appliances they can take with them.
Well this list isn't going to do itself, will make a start. 3 deliveries due today. My mission in life is not only to survive, but to thrive and to do so with some Passion, some Compassion, some Humour and some Style.NST SEP No 1 No Debt No mortgage7 -
@apple_muncher - you ratbag! beat me to it again.Slept awfully last night. The lurker on the staircase is back at it again, finally got to sleep after 3am, I should have just admitted defeat at 11.30 and got up and just laid a man-trap. Whoever it was has eaten half a pat of butter overnight. Sadly it is nobody who lives in my house (or so they claim). Haunted butter dish obvs.Spent yesterday filling out forms to sell s/g's house, was at the post office by 9am. Have emailled solicitors, spoken to estate agents, and got pipped by apple by 4 hours, however, I have pinched and punched everyone I have come across (5 family 1 Post Office staff) and saw a neighbour sneaking beer bottles into the street bin rather than have anyone see them in the recycling
