Help, what to do? Son's teacher just told him Santa's Not Real

I know this is silly as my son is 11 and at secondary school BUT we've tried very hard to keep this alive for him as long as possible. We just came back from Lapland and re-ignited our son's belief in Father Christmas, we met the reindeers and the great man himself. I really thought we might get one more Christmas with him believing - however, today, 11 days before Christmas, his literacy teacher goes and says "now I know you all know Father Christmas is not real".
What should I do, my son is really upset as he doesn't think he will get any presents (we told him that once you stop believing than the magic goes and there are no presents and the parents have to do it). How can a teacher tell a class of 11 year olds that it's not real. I am so angry, how dare a teacher take it upon herself to tell a class that it is not real. Right now I feel like making so much fuss as it has ruined the magic for our son and he will probably tell our daughter who is just 9 that it's not real too.
Any advice would be welcome.

Oh Fluffy you must be ready to string the teacher up.I agree he/she had no rite to dissalusion your son.
Our 12 year old daughter still belives in Father Christmas ,tooth fairy & Easter Bunny.
She knows lots of other people dont belive but like you we told her that once you stop belivinvg no pressies from Santa (in our case only the stocking is from him everything else comes from family & freinds).
If he truly belives then a letter from Santa confirming he is coming might help.
Dear........................
One of my elves has informed me that an adult who no longer belives in me has tried to spoil our special freindship. Please do not worry I will bring you your gifts as always good freinds dont let each other down.
Santa.
P.S. could I have only a very small mince pie this year as Im finding my suit is getting very tight.
Printed off the computor in a font you would neverv normaly use and signed with your left hand folded & placed in his room under the pillow if poss.
Had to do somthing simmilar one year when DD saw me hiding eggs in the garden:o
Hope this is of some help. And well done on allowing your children to hope & dream of immpossible things. Some of the best lessons we ever learn,we learn from our mistakes and failures.the error of the past is the success and wisdom of the future. :j0 -

I expect the teacher would have believed that all kids that age would have been well aware of the fact. Santa is an early primary school thing, deffo not a teens thing. Kids can still enjoy the magic of christmas without santa.

Yes, they should if they are ready, but if you know they still want the magic then why spoil it for them. Also this should be our decision and not up to a teacher two weeks before Christmas. My son knows lots of children don't believe, his logic tells him it can't be real, BUT and it is a big BUT he is happy thinking that it might be true and wants to cling on to this.0 -

11 is not a teenager, is in fact two years away from being a teen. He is happy with the belief, we have worked hard to keep the belief and it is up to us to tell him any different.0 -

Maybe he is still believing just to "keep you happy"
maybe its you who wants him to believe ( for his sibling?)0 -
I'm sorry but I can't sympathise with this.
You want to blame your child's teacher for correcting lies you have been telling your child? I believe you need to take a serious look at yourself on this one... Christmas is a religious festival, not an excuse to buy gifts for children, nor feed them lies about the meaning of the day. I'm not religious in the slightest, but totally detest what people have turned this day into.
I think the only real reason that you are annoyed on this is that your child will quite rightly start doubting what you say. This sounds like you kept this whole charade going for your own benefit rather than the welfare of your child.0 -
