Today has been a fairly miserable day. Mostly due to waking 4 times during the night. And then the frustration that comes with not being able to enjoy much on my day off. Bowed to the inevitable and took a nap today but still had difficulty playing with Bam Bam (new name for nephew 1 after he attempted to put his foot through my laptop keyboard in response to it being turned off🤦)
Money wise I have exerted no control over food spending this month. Which is largely the only thing I have spent any of my disposable income on. I have concluded that it is probably best to think of food as an interest and pursue it accordingly.
The money structure is mainly a float with all the fixed items paid first including set amounts for savings.Todays spending was horrific due to lack of sleep. But in the spirit of reframing I am calling it a holiday day, a mini vacation.
Tomorrow we are off and I think I will try to spend the day in the garden and get myself ahead on some projects. I think a feeling of progress is important right now.To feel a bit more holiday, I collected a list of documentaries to watch. I’ve started with s documentary on Origami5 -
The mse blooper of the week? Spending £8 on a box of fish fingers. With 32 in the box that comes out at 25p a finger. Oddly that doesn’t sound that bad. It’s funny how we have become conditioned to think that our food should be cheap. Relatively speaking though, I could have gotten a nice steak for that.
There are a few things to buy that will help me to get further in my endeavours. And this is coming into the expensive gift season, starting with BIL and assuming that new baby will make an appearance sometime soon.I am uncomfortable with how low/fast my float is disappearing so some effort will need to go into rebuilding that once I have made satisfactory progress in other areas.4 -
Sorry yesterday was fairly miserable.
I hope you get out into the garden today.
Fishmonger price isn't bad for 32 of them. I love fish fingers...they are comforting

Cheers DIA. The coating on them was better quality it has to be said.
In happier news, nephew 3 has made his entrance into the world. Suitably dramatic of course.
I am feeling somewhat constrained by my life at the moment though. There is no real break from anything and a lot of unknown expectations.4 -
Welcome to the world nephew 3. I hope he is ok.
You already do masses for your sister's family, do you need to set up any boundaries?
I ask because I am not great with family boundaries myself but I am trying to be better as I don't want to be taken advantage of and end up resentful.

Congratulations on auntie-dom for the third time!
Perhaps you need to sit down and work out where you need to set boundaries and what questions you need to ask family about what they are hoping you can do?I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)

Congrats on the nephew.
Glad you had a holiday even if re-entry was difficult afterwards. On the working from a different office - perhaps a disability adjustment you could ask for is that you don't and that you have more structure and control over where you work from.Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030
