Good to hear from you! I'm in August as well so I while it may seem a strange experience, you're not alone.
I wonder how many steps you've done since you started that job?
Enjoy your Monday off.I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)

4.8 million steps since January 2025 Cherry. Although my Fitbit has taken against charging so that's missing a couple of days.
Down with yet another illness, this time a cold which unfortunately coincided with shark week. Poor brain doesn't quite know what's hit it after a combination of painkillers, too much sugar and too much thinking.

I have been in my job now 8 months or so and I think I can safely say it is the strangest place I have ever worked. And I have had quite a lot of employers. Even libraries, a place known for strange people, was not as odd.
Apparently I have to book all the annual leave I have left (with seven months left in the holiday year). No explanation has been given as to why. Apparently the long term posties (different contracts) all book their leave en masse in some weird North Korean Hunger Games numerical group nonsense. I only know this because I asked one to explain it to me.
No indication of any of these procedures are explained to you before you take the job. Which may explain the 'ahem' unique workforce.
The PDA part of my brain is gearing up for battle.
The sensible part is wondering do I bother looking for another job now or wait.
Financially I'm still feeling like I can't quite pin things down. Which is where I am at with everything in my life. Establishing a life for myself has been slow going 🐌. Even without fractured thinking and poor decision making skills.4 -

That's impressive.
My Fitbit is getting temperamental about charging, too. I have to double check it's actually connected, and the charge doesn't last as long these days, but then I've had it for years. The next one will be a cheap version, DH got his for about £16 though it doesn't do as many things as mine does.
What a palaver about the leave. Is it so they don't get everyone booking March off and have no staff left?
I hope you're feeling better soon. How are your sister and the boys?I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)

If you're still okay with the job then just book the leave, a random week off before the weather really turns, a week in December to sort/enjoy Christmassy things, days here and there to have a long weekend, lots of nice options!
You're doing great 💪https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/6466032/an-in-between-phase

Lol I like your almanac style thinking, PiP. I'm committed to going to see family which is partly why I can't plan just now, more than one variable and my head explodes.
All three boys are doing as well as three unformed mad creatures can do. But it's only Monday. Time for someone to catch the plague, get stuck in a pipe, poop himself...
Sister Act is planning on selling her house which effectively means I need to get my act together 🤦♂️ No more comfort zone for me. To be fair, she did invite me to come with them to their new place when and if it happens. And she isn't pressuring me to do anything (most of the time). If they do sell it probably won't be til early next year.
More overtime today and probably the rest of the week. That should add some money to a DIY budget.

Fitbit has officially bit the dust so it has been added to the toy box. I will never officially hit 5 million steps now lol.
As far as I can tell there is no actual reason for any of the rules they have in this place. They just appear out of nowhere and try to make you feel like you're the crazy one.
