Debt and Caring

We deliver to a tower block that does not enjoy a high standard of living. Last week, I walked into the stairwell and sniffed- there's a poop somewhere. The first poop was encountered between floors 5 and 3. The second between 3 and 1. The following week my colleague does that half of the building and comes out looking rueful. I think he is exaggerating in his description until I go there the following day and see a poop that is about six inches in diameter. It does not get cleaned up for four days.
The likelihood that I will be picking up McMo tokens is slim.
I may also need a new job.
For some reason Youtube started showing me Dave Ramsay clips. I've been low on brain energy the last few days so I've been watching them and they're a little OTT. But I was spurred on to do a check in of my finances and I am pleasantly surprised.
I owe less than I thought. For some reason I thought I still owed around 8k when actually I owe 5600.
I have saved over 1k.
The biggest change is that I moved 3100 to a 0% card.
This month has been eye opening with regards to my money management. It is the first month where I have had to rely on my base salary (no overtime, tax refunds etc) and I nearly ran out of money before half the month was over.
I am taking small steps to feel like I know where my money is going (food glorious food) without putting too much pressure on my brain.
My payslip for October will be out some time next week. I have asked what the cutoff dates are for payroll so I should be able to plan better for overtime and know in advance how much will be in my paycheck from November.
Small little motivations pop up now and again. Since I've been going into these disadvantaged areas on a regular basis, I have a consistent visual of what happens when you don't do things. I'm slowly learning from experience the importance of keeping things clean, of maintenance, of having nice things.
My next organization is to gather all the regular events and tasks into a seasonal organization so that I can better plan for things. Autumn is a good time for change for me so I shall ride that wave.
ETA: there is a payroll cutoff date list in the work app.

No seriously, just don’t buy things. 99% of our success with our savings rate is attributed to the fact that we don’t buy things... You can and should take advantage of discounts.... But at the end of the day, the only way to truly save money is to not buy stuff. Money doesn’t walk out of your wallet on its own accord.

I debate with myself.
It's raining and I'm in a part of town where you generally wouldn't pick up anything from the ground.
How can I let the side down I say and pick it up when the road is clear.
Sadly the sticker is soaked through and disintegrates. Risked Ebola for nothing 😂I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on Debt Free Wannabe boards and spending & discounts boards. It is good to see how some people have to live. Makes me feel thankful...

I did see someone in a car after I had already done my middle of the road dance with a coffee cup 😂
Luckily by that point of a work shift I am past caring about anything lol.
The way some people live is eye opening. I am definitely learning from it. Even by just how depressing it is to go back to these places day after day.
What I'm learning from this job is interesting. It is so basic, so lacking in the comforts I took for granted it really strips everything back to the bare essentials. It really shows you the meaning of working for money6 -
In a strange twist, my payslip has a ton of arrears on it meaning I have 300 more than I anticipated. That being said I took money out of savings to pay for this week because I ran out of money before I ran out of month 🤦♂️
I'm working on making conscious choices but man is it difficult to keep track of all the things right now.
All I want is a bucket of junk (on top of all the junk I've already had) and a nap.

Ooh, lovely unexpected money! You work very hard, so have the nap, eat the junk...If you have built castles in the air, your work should not be lost; that is where they should be. Now put the foundations under them

Lovely to get the extra pay!I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)

Grown up decision time. Do I keep my allotment or no?
On the way there this morning I was leaning primarily towards giving it up. I've had it since May and I think I've been four times. Then I got there and there were giant sunflowers and flowers peeking out from the weeds...
Admittedly brain did think ooh a problem to solve! Then realised that solution was a lot of weeding 🤦♂️
This is why emotional life is confusing. I feel sad about giving it up but know it's the right decision.1
