A DAY OFFHi redo, my food choices are in fact well thought out and planned for maximum health intake.
And if you believe that you’ll believe anything 😂
I had to wear sweatpants to work yesterday because the waistband of my work trousers cuts me in two.
The clock in my head is ticking down to d-day. Since I accepted the job my brain has done a total about face and now thinks it has money. When in actual fact I won’t see a full salary until the end of December. This did not stop me buying six months of kindle unlimited as they offered a deal. However I enjoyed that far more than anything else I spent money on yesterday.
Today has been mostly spent reading in bed. Made baked oats then promptly consumed four of them. Really really don’t want to get up.
I shall give myself fifteen minutes more then go through the magic water portal (aka the shower) into the rather more mundane world.5 -
Figured the cat people would appreciate how my hot water bottle has been appropriated.

TOO MUCH PEOPLINGHave taken to my bed this afternoon to make up for the sad lack of morning routine. Brain is still fizzing somewhat so not really settling to anything.
Was thinking about habits last night in work and so got up this morning happily anticipating my morning routine. Only to be confronted by A Situation. It involved a broken door handle, tears and unresolved childhood trauma.
None of which were mine which made a nice change. So my morning was taken over by small children, mother management and Tension.I’ve been thinking in a broad sense about spending for next year. Some of my thoughts revolved around potentially buying a cheap car as I do feel like I would go out more if it was easier to get places. But it would be a large purchase relative to monthly income. And I want to get my choice of phone as well as some sort of holiday. So instead I am thinking about allocating a sum to transport, which could then be divvied up between car club, taxis, buses and trains etc.
A holiday is looking increasingly unlikely as Sister Act is expecting again and No 3 will arrive sometime in April, all being well.4 -
Oh my, what a beauty 😻
Well done for dealing with the Situation. I did chuckle at 'None of which were mine which made a nice change'
Getting the phone you want and budgeting for different types of travel sound a good idea. Don't forget to go through cashback sites if possible for phone and insurance!
Have you considered how will best suit you to put money aside with your postie wage? Maybe you could have a holiday pot, though don't think we've forgotten you need dental money! Your future self will thank you2 -
Gorgeous cat but are you sure it's your hot water bottle? The look on the cat's face seems to indicate otherwise.
I'm sorry you didn't get your orderly morning but it sounds very much as it you went into capable mode and did the necessary adulting, so credit to you. I hope the afternoon made up for it.
How about a March holiday? We did a few days in Italy in March which was lovely. Warmer than the UK, beautiful and not so many tourists that we couldn't enjoy it.I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)
The sun's been out and I think I’m solar powered (Onebrokelady)

ALL THROUGH THE HOUSE
Shenanigans at work meant I was there and back with a side trip to Mr A inside of an hour 🤷
So that was a bonus and starting my weekend with bacon even more so. The morning trudge to obtain Awake Juice (tea) was only briefly interrupted by holding of small children and I have successfully found a book series which will help justify the k unlimited cost. Hopefully I will remember the other books I had in mind to read sometime in the six month membership.Fear not, PiP dental work is still on my mind. Sister Act has found a dentist she really recommends but it is private so I’m thinking I will go there for a second opinion slash plan once there are pennies in the pot. Ideally I would like a whole mouth plan instead of just gradually losing teeth left, right and centre.
A March holiday was the original thought Cherry. Job 2 is term time contract and the school holidays are possibly too close to due date of Small Human no 3. I stayed with the small one last time while hospital was happening and I assume I will do the same again? If they have another plan I would still like to be nearby for newborn snuggles.
I will out down what I’m thinking about money allocations in the next post. Must try and get into the shower as I have been offered a lift hopefully to garden centre where I can obtain tulips and snakes head fritillaries.6 -
What a beautiful cat! My HWB gets stolen too.
much envy on the kindle unlimited offer, still full price for me so I sitting tight for an offer. My mortgage free diary: https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/6498069/whoops-here-comes-the-cheese

I haven’t had an offer from k untld for ages redo, I was quite surprised.
The cat and I are uneasy housemates, she is pretty but likes to defend her territory. Even if that territory is my lap with my lunch on it.3 -
IN THE DARK YOU CAN SEE THE STARS
Somewhat perplexed by my trip to the big orange diy place. There was only one stand of clearance bulbs. The R*nge had more options but most boxes were empty.Picked up daffodils, bluebells, woodland mix and some vaguely unsatisfying tulips. As we were in the R£nge I also got some containers for meal prep. My initial thought was I would love to go in there and just buy whatever caught my eye. It was very busy and as I wandered round I found myself thinking instead that it was nicer when I already knew what I wanted and what it related to in my life.I’ve been thinking about why we all have such problems with stuff/cleaning. I think we resent the time it takes. Mostly because we are so used to a productivity model we even do our hobbies in the same way we do our work. In the right frame of mind, clearing up toys or putting the kitchen to rights feels luxurious. It feels like things are being taken care of. Perhaps that the reward is a nice place to be.Some thinking done about money today. Although I’d like this to be the pattern for the foreseeable future I would like to take into consideration that I may not be able to sustain a heavy workload. Or that circumstances may change in some other way. I imagine this will look like crossing off immediate necessities like new glasses, debt arrears and flat cleanup. Calculations to be done when my ears aren’t ringing.4 -
A nice place to be is an excellent reward - when my home is cosy and clean and comfy and everything is the way I like it I find it so much easier to do little bits of putting things away or running the dishwasher, and it does feel like a nice thing to do. And I love having nice surroundings, I still relax when I see my shelves with plants and books. But when things start to slide towards chaos, which they inevitably do, it feels like much more of a chore and I get stuck in overwhelm at the amount that needs done as it piles up until I either get help or find some hyper focus to get through it. Luckily I have a cleaner and other help to keep on top of things, otherwise between the fatigue and pain and executive dysfunction I’d be constantly stressed at the state of the place (this has happened a lot previously). I try to remember that it’s a real privilege to have that help.Debt at LBM (Dec 2018): £23,167
