  • THE COUNTDOWN BEGINS

I must admit that at this point I’m experiencing a morbid curiosity about starting this job.
I’m wondering what I will turn up to on Tuesday. Is it really a mail depot? Will it be a case of Surprise you’re actually working in a mine! I’ll turn up and be handed a pickaxe and loincloth a la Sebastiao Salgado’s The Gold Mine.
Or worse, Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom.

Have spent the evening with a notebook and pencil and now have a calendar drawn out for a year, birthdays and the date I need to buy presents by which was on my mind.
My week had four different types of days and I’ve visualised a schedule for each type except my day off.
I’ve got a shopping list for the first week and hopefully enough money to cover travel 🤞
Ive also written down the jobs that need to be done (laundry etc) so they are not pushed aside/forgotten.
I am committing to work until the end of December even if the place is horrible (unless illegal/safety concerns) as that will at least cover arrears and get me up to date.
The next item is to allocate the outstanding things to months so I don’t go overboard. Yes PiP this will include dentistry.

ROFL, that is such a great image! Have you considered it could be an initiative test for MI5?

    Brilliant work on the lists.

Re plaiting the cat's fur, cats can turn, you know. My sister felt the cat playing with her hair and didn't pay too much attention - then discovered it had chewed right through it.

  • Lol I did think portal to the International Space Station but feel my Irishness rules out MI5
  • TIME AFTER TIME

Today is an annoying lull in time. There are no kids here to distract myself with, I’m too lazy to go out in the rain/wind and got halfway through filling a deliveroo shopping basket only for the shop to stop taking orders. So no baking/batch cooking this afternoon.
lord as I’m writing this I can feel myself itching to do something. I have really gotten out of the habit of enjoying a quiet afternoon/day. I did start reading The Madness of Grief for the third time which I was into but had to pause for crying breaks.
The sister has yet to open her birthday cake. Since Wednesday! It’s inhuman, really, it is. I may have to turn pirate and seize it. Capture it under laws of Get In My Belly.

Have you enough supplies in to make yourself an un-birthday cake? As a reward for leaving hers intact, and besides, this one will be fresher.

Or you could get your art stuff out, if you have it with you. Or download a freebie off Open Library,  or go down a YouTube rabbit hole... or get ahead with prep for Stir Up Sunday... maybe not possible if you're needing an edibles delivery.

I do think I am a bit bored and not having any money does not help with that.
Fill in a few surveys or enter some competitions perhaps? Seems to be my day for adding things to your list...  I made a Christmas cake and gave myself a hair cut, but I think eating birthday cake sounds a very acceptable alternative.

I'd at least ask about the hours -  I can understand the demand avoidance element though.
