WINTER IS COMING
Teacup has left earlier than usual which has given me an unexpectedly free morning. I thought oh ho I’ll do some gardening, I’ll go to Faraway Garden Centre… Only to wake up to snow.
F’ing snow. Pretty snow. But snow nonetheless. Now I do love a snow day. I enjoy any legitimate excuse not to leave the house. And a sneaky feeling wormed up inside me thinking you could do all the things with no due date, no ‘reason’ for doing them…
And then of course, the Evil Productiveness Fairy popped out and suggested that it was a good day for batch cooking. She thinks the brain is a factory that one. And of course she doesn’t have to walk to the supermarket in snow.
will probably end up doing a little of everything before extra hours at work.Astro, my opinions about exec function are probably controversial so I shall keep them to myself unless asked. I hope though you can figure out a way to escape the stress cycle.3 -
Are those currants in your pancakes? I think the EPF is only looking out for your interests and making sure you eat well in cold weather.
No snow here - yet. A light frost and sunshine, and high time I got moving, though I don't know what I want to get done.I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)

The fruit is a frozen mix, Cherry. I think it’s summer fruit.
They’re not really pancakes as such I’ve heard them called yoghurt bakes. They’re very filling without being stodgy.
Thanks, redo3 -
Had a lovely walk down by the river this morning. Watched the cows drink from the water and generally all was lovely and snowy. Pondered what buying a flat in the riverside development would involve. It was all very nice and romantic.
I got home and made a filling lunch ready for extra hours at work. Watched a bit of gardeners world. Made the mistake of reading my emails where my offer letter for new job spun me into a web of confusion. I have apparently been offered more hours than I thought at different times. I emailed to clarify as nobody got back to me last week. Got back straightaway saying the job finished at a different time to what I thought. Which then sent me off into a spiral of thinking I was an idiot who read the ad wrong and nothing subsequently got done.
It did not help realising I had forgotten to do my laundry.
I was upset about it and annoyed that I couldn’t do anything else because of being overwhelmed by stupid feelings which was a lovely state of affairs. So I showered and went off for my extra hours at work.21k steps later and it is impossible to be anything but mellow.
And also, past me was confused by the interview and downloaded a copy of the original ad which does say the time I thought it did. They’ve edited it online now.3 -
Oh I hate it when things shift like that, right underneath you ….
Will they honour the original hours?KKAs at 15.07.25:

I find it's hard to process sudden changes. If you are similar, leave it till tomorrow and have a good think about which hours would suit you more. You were offered it as a) but now they're saying b) so it seems to me you could make a case for whichever works best for you.I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)

SOME ASSEMBLY REQUIRED
Yesterday was a Busy Day which for me means I left the house and was hithering and thithering. Nominally the outing was to meet a friend for lunch but I like to make the most of these things so had a coffee, looked for boots, looked at toys for xmas, bulbs for the garden… Bought some bulbs and a push bar for a child's bike to put on my hoover at work.Really enjoyed going for a walk at the beach, the snow and waves and light…
Today has involved getting a cake for sister birthday and shopping for me, paid for by a £30 win on a scratch card. Got a shock at the prices of cakes.
Used up leftover pizza sauce, mozzarella and half a bag of kale in a pasta dish, baked more yoghurt pancake things and watched an episode of designing the hebrides.
Now trying to do a brain dump.
The new job has been a bit of a PITA so far but starting it is relatively low stakes. They did say speak to the manager on site about the hours so I’ll do that. If not available then I shall see if I can get more cleaning hours. If not then I shall go to thought group C which is potentially childminding or more cleaning.3 -
Sounds a very productive day, well done. I am also in shock every time I go to buy a celebratory cake.
Snowy beach sounds gorgeous 😍2
