Breathing room sounds sensible. Thanks for letting us know. :)

    That's a very sweet dragon.

    You'll get there - a step at a time.

  • Taking advantage of the words coming back to put together a quick update.
I've been experiencing shutdowns for a long time and it has been having an effect on my cognitive abilities. I have difficulty putting information together and am relying on my visual faculty which is useful but brings a whole new set of issues and fears.
If anyone is interested I can describe the cognitive fatigue further but I'll park it for now.

    So... Update.
Applied for the dole, got it and currently in 5 week waiting period. It is not enough to pay my mortgage so I was kicked up the bum to apply for jobs.
Applied for a delivery driver job, was interviewed and waiting to hear. Made an absolute fool of myself and could not stop talking so am assuming I did not get it. They were very nice but man it took it out of me.
Applied for another delivery driver job, interview on Tuesday.
Still waiting for my bike to be delivered. They phoned me after I queried and apparently it is a 4-6 week wait not 3-4.
Am currently staying at my sister's awaiting number 2 nephew. This way I am on hand should he decide to appear in the middle of the night.

Missing Dad more than I can say; have done some research on autism and grief though which has helped. I used a children's book about death which was also very helpful.

    That is it for now.

Thanks for the update, I can well believe the brain shuts down as a sort of defence mechanism, is that roughly along the right lines?

Amazingly well done to get interviews. I wouldn't worry too much about talking too much, it shouldn't impact on your ability to do the job and it's all good experience.

Children's books can be really helpful. They can get under our adult reasoning and straight to emotional understanding.

I hope the bike hurries up. That's ages to wait.

I love children's books - and their simplicity.

Hugs on the grieving. Good to have purpose with helping your sister. Hopefully it will distract you while you search for other things that can utilise your skills. Hope you are getting to do art still and your nephew is still talking your ear off.

  • I had a jobcentre appointment on Monday during which I cried, sweated and left on legs shaking like a fawn.
The knock on effect was brutal, spaced out for most of Monday so as a consequence I ate All The Things then lost Tuesday to the after effects of unrestrained eating during an acid reflux flare up.
Wednesday became Day Out day and now Thursday is fairly functional.

I'm not sure that I can stick the Job centre process. The advisor was nice but at the end of the day they are paying me not very much money and expecting me to meet far too many demands that frankly, I don't think I can or want to cope with. Or perhaps more accurately, how much time can I devote to strategies for the jobcentre when I already have so much on my plate. I did get AI to write the CV I'm going to use so that's something.

No word on job interview so I am assuming I haven't got it but another one set up for Monday next.
