  • Didn’t bother with a meal plan last week as was only here for a few days so just made sure everything was used up before going away. Back today and a normal week ahead so quick plan and shop done:

Sun - salmon, new potatoes, veg, creamy pesto sauce
Mon - gammon and mushroom pasta
    Tues - beans on toast
Wed - prawn egg fried rice
Thurs - chorizo and courgette gnocchi
Fri - TBA, whatever needs using up
All going to plan, tonight’s gnocchi was yummy.

Fri will be mushroom risotto with the end of the pack of smoked salmon and whatever veg/salad is left 🙃

I’m out a fair bit next week including a visit to a friend anxious to share her crop of tomatoes and courgettes, so I’m holding off on meal planning until this time next week.
  • Have written a meal plan, hoping to stick to it to save unnecessary spending as it’s the last week off school here, we are hoping to get out the house most days to make the most of it. But this always means meal plan gets ignored and forgotten  :D

No real order to this weeks,
    Chicken curry
    Hot dogs
    Pie, mash and veg
     Bacon hash
    Pizza & veg sticks
    Fish fingers, chips & beans
    Probably a takeaway

     :)

    Yum risotto  :)

After stretching out a gammon last week I still had leftovers - now frozen. It was tasty, good value and meant meals were not too meat heavy.

Looking something like this so far in no particular order:

    • Moroccan fish tagine with lemon cous-cous  - https://deliciouslymediterranean.com/moroccan-fish-tagine/
    • Chicken bhuna curry and rice
    • Salmon and prawn salad, crusty bread
    • Mackerel, new potatoes with garlicy roasted green beans and tomatoes
    • Bean burger (thinking Jack Munroe's kidney & carrot), chips and salad side
    • Pasta bake with roast tomatoes and little freezer ragu
    • Omelette of some sort using up whatever needs using up

Fish heavy this week to use up some of the 3 for £10 fish from Ice*and. I liked the oily more than the white fish which I won't buy again. Hence using some of it in the fish stew.

I baked again yesterday to freeze slices of cake in individual portions. If a whole cake is left out it will get eaten up quickly which is neither good on the waist or moneysaving. Nice to have a treat but too tempting to pig-out! I'm starting to build a good treat stash in the freezer. I made a fruit loaf and orange and almond cake yesterday.

Someone in the forum mentioned celery soup I now have a notion for - so it and the usual left-overs, sandwiches and salady bits will be lunches. We don't eat breakfast.

    Have a good week everyone

Friday, Saturday and Sunday will now change.

Friday will be another Dhal (this one was made for DD2) as I have poppadoms which will go stale otherwise.

Saturday will now be Orange chicken and rice

Sunday will be savoury mince and mash with carrots and peas.
    Or Bolognese and Edamame noodles.
