  • Bit of swapping around of days this week as I ended up being out for Sunday dinner so things moved on a day which meant I didn’t have to find anything for last night 😉

Have ended up with a whole cucumber and quite a bit of lettuce left somehow so need to work those in to lunches. New plan starting today:

Sat - mushroom omelette, salad, maybe a few chips
Sun - pork stroganoff, noodles, broccoli
Mon - tuna and broccoli pesto pasta
    Tues - beans on toast
Wed - prawn egg fried rice
Thurs - smoked salmon and watercress pasta
Fri - scampi, chips and peas 😋

We are going away for a few days, self catering but I find it easier to take easy food with us.
I'm stocking up the inlaws freezer tomorrow with some homemade ready meals so will take a couple along with us.
    It's looking like this

Sat tuna steaks with noodle stirfry
Sun Roast chicken, potatoes and veg.
Mon. New pots, salad, quiche leftover chicken.
    Tues cottage pie and broccoli
    Wed. Pasta and garlic bread
    Thurs. Curry and rice
    Fri takeaway fish and chips.

Lablabi didn't happen, so will hopefully be next week. Instead I had hotdogs chips and corn.
Friday's meal required broccoli which I didn't have, so I had Katsu bake, chips again 🙄 and green beans.

Koftas will hopefully still go ahead tonight.
I need to now make a start on next week's plan.

    Morning.

We had a week off work last week with lots of days out and eating out which meant no menu-plan. It was lovely to go with the flow and have what we fancied - but expensive!

Back on track this week with the following:

    • Chicken, pepper curry with rice (last night)
    • Beef olives, potatoes, broccoli and green beans (today)
    • Salmon, potatoes and salad
    • Herby pork burgers, wedges and salad
    • Kedgeree
    • Spanish omelette with chorizo, peppers etc and salad
    • Pasta with ragu and salad

All home made. The beef olives will have a mushroom stuffing. A bit heavy for the weather but looking forward to a hearty dish. I've not made pork burgers before but bought pork mince on a deal and wasn't too sure what to do with it, so I'll try burgers and see if they go down well.

Lunches will be filled sandwiches or rolls - usual ham, cheese, tuna and salad. I usually do soup to have in a mug with lunch but haven't decided if I can be bothered yet - maybe celery soup. Fancy doing a fluffy jelly, you know the type where you whisk in some yogurt or a tin of evaporated milk when the jelly is part set. I got used to having "something sweet last week", but it isn't a good habit to get into!

The homegrown strawberry glut goes on. I really need to start growing raspberries and other fruit for variety as it's been a good money saver.

    Have a great week everyone.

Last week’s plan went awry as I was out more than expected.  I’ll be out at least two days this week, so I’m keeping it simple.

sausage, new potatoes, mushrooms and egg, gooseberry crumble and kefir
cauliflower cheese x 2, blackberries and blueberries with kefir
chicken bacon and avocado salad, gooseberry crumble and kefir
chicken bacon and avocado salad, fruit salad

    This week's plan starting today:

Pressure cooked gammon, potatoes, carrots plus green veg

    Cold gammon, chips, beans

    Veg biryani

Toad in the hole, new pots, veg

    Carbonara

    KFC, chips, corn, beans

    Beef & bean curry, rice

This may need to change a bit as picking up a TGTG bag this afternoon so will try to incorporate some into the plan if possible.

Change to the plan already!  Tonight will now be sea bream as we picked some up in Morrie's for a reasonable price so we'll have that tonight and everything will move on a day.  Will probably drop the curry as that is in the freezer so can stay there for the time being!

  • This week’s plan changed between writing it this morning and posting it! Now out for lunch tomorrow but will cook the gammon joint anyway as I took it out to defrost this morning 😀

Sat - chorizo and broccoli pasta
Sun - smoked salmon sandwich (out for Sunday lunch)
Mon - gammon, new potatoes, salad
    Tues - beans on toast
Wed - gammon, new potatoes, salad or gammon and pea pesto pasta
Thurs - egg on toast or picky tea (lunch at work meeting)
Fri - burger, new potatoes, salad
