Lindsey006 said:So today 7 x 15 foot grey poles are being installed around the car park. Apparently a man and a van is to visit and parking will be restricted to 90 mins. The installer assures me the poles are for signs only, not cameras. I don’t have an issue with this except that the 15 foot poles are now an unsightly view, do they have to be so tall? The installer says they only have the one size. 7 poles, 20 car parking spaces seems a bit of an overkill but can I do anything? No planning permission but would this actually stop the installation? All in a semi rural village with ample free road parking.

Signage (depending on number and size) may also require advertising consent. (Not having it is a criminal matter, but only the local council can pursue that).Jenni x4

Cameras and associated control equipment need planning permission.
Signs need advertising consent.
Poles may need planning permission in certain circumstances such as listed buildings/historic land/areas of outstanding natural beauty.I married my cousin. I had to...I don't have a sister. All my screwdrivers are cordless."You're Safety Is My Primary Concern Dear" - Laks6 -

I suggest you take photos at each stage, including the entrance. Pay particular attention to where the entrance sign is placed as sometimes PPCs have been known to put them on public land such as a footpath or roadway.
I guarantee that the signs will not conform to the BPA's CoP. The £100 charge, or whatever amount has been agreed by the landowner, will be in tiny font compared with the rest of the text and therefore unreadable from a car, and incapable of forming a contract with the motorist.
As for planning permission, it is not required for signs but is required for ANPR scameras and control boxes unless there is a special covenant/restriction regarding the land.
As Jenny says, advertising consent in accordance with the Town and Country Planning (Control of Advertisements) (England) Regulations 2007 (“the Regulations”). Section 30 of the Regulations, as also Section 224 of the Town and Country Planning Act 1990, provides that any unauthorised display of an advertisement that requires Express Consent to be displayed is a strict-liability criminal offence.
In addition, lack of advertising consent is a breach of section 12 of the PoFA 2012.

Thanks, I will take photos and pursue the permission for advertising. No adverts yet, just the ugly poles. How often do the patrols visit in reality, does anyone have experience. I am 3 miles out from the nearest small town.1

Their attendants are what they call "profit centres" they are incentivised to issue as many what they term valid successful tickets as they can very often zipping around on a moped.
