  • I’ve just paid off another of my smaller debts. £257 to settle and close a payday loan. This feels amazing! I’ve settled 4 debts this month and regained access to my M&S CC which by the way I received today in the post. I’m starting to feel like an adult in control again.
TOTAL DEBT JUNE 2019: £38,233.87 Aiming debt free mid 2023. All bad debt written off / paid by January 2023. No missed payments in 2023. Only one active credit card to pay off! I DID IT 🎉
  • Taking back the control is an awesome feeling! Well done on your achievements so far, you're doing brilliantly :)

Lantern, the ones that declined the write off yesterday also declined my £350 offer to settle but have given me a contra offer of £167 less than what I owe so, I have accepted and pledged to pay it off in two instalments. So one of my biggest debts will be gone by the 1st of July :)

  • NCO declined my write off request because I have disposable income after bills. Fair enough it’s just weird how some creditors did and some don’t.

I accepted lanterns offer for a discount so that’s a bit of money saved. I am waiting to hear from very, capital one and NatWest…

I also woke up to this and nearly puked. £37 monthly increase in my gas and electricity bill. Are we actually insane???

  • It's something we are all going to get over the next few months, I'm dreading ours as it's £170 a month already and I'm still on a fixed tariff. Some of the quotes I got were £600+ a month based on usage!

  • What the… I would be going off grid. I had fixed tariff but it’s now over… and this was the cheapest quote. What are they expecting ?? People WILL stop paying when they have to chose between turning on the light or eating…

I know what you mean, we are fortunate enough at the moment to be able to afford the extra but it will mean less money to go to savings, entertainment and servicing debts. The less we are paying off debts the longer we will have them.

I cannot imagine how hard it's going to be for those on lower wages and benefits

  • Thank you so much! :)

I have made my payments for June for all my creditors but NatWest. Wescot who was managing the account for them contacted me yesterday to let me know that NatWest had recalled the loan again in light of my request for write off and my medical information. They haven’t contacted me yet so I am waiting for information from them on what their decision is and how to pay them from now onwards…
I start June with a debt of £19175.36 so I have cleared a total of £1810.63 since the end of April which I think Is pretty amazing!
