Daughter and partner freeloading

I was also wondering if she really is studying medicine as seems very odd she would be in her final year at aged 21 - in fact impossible!
Also I would have thought broadband would have been essential to her due to the amounts of research etc you need to do online - obviously she could have 4g but then this would be an added expense she has.
All in all just seems a very strange situation......Been around since 2008 but somehow my profile was deleted!!!1 -
We used to go out for meals and I was always willing to pay, we never did it much, but we no longer do that.GrumpyDil said:I'd guess OP to some extent wants to maintain a relationship with daughter and is nervous of losing what little there is.0 -
Maybe because there is no longer any communication between you and there probably hasn't been for a long time.sevenhills said:

Agreed and adding there would be some hospital / GP placement / observation work going on through the degree and this has continued for many undergrads throughout the pandemic. 5 yrs is the norm for undergrad and 4yrs for grad entry medicine. Physician’s associate is a masters degree, hence unlikely at 21. Perhaps the course is a subject allied to medicine and the OP heard only ‘medicine’squirrelchops2 said:I was also wondering if she really is studying medicine as seems very odd she would be in her final year at aged 21 - in fact impossible!

Some universities offer a degree at the end of year three, before the student starts their clinical phase? If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing0

Or it could be a Nursing degree which is still a medical degree...0

She originally wanted to be a psychologist, but I think she chose a shorter degree with more options. Not sure when it finishes, studying to be a doctor is serious commitment.ontheroad1970 said:Or it could be a Nursing degree which is still a medical degree...0 -
Sevenhills, do you just want to have a rant as you are not prepared to take any action to change things?0

What is your thinking on the opinions so far? They seem to be saying the same....pay up or get out basically.sevenhills said:

Do you not talk about anything in your house? Not even over dinner?
Are you uninterested in what she's doing, how it's going etc., or is she not very forthcoming in wanting to discuss anything with you?
You need to start actually TALKING to each other, only then do you stand a chance of resolving anything. How's it going, AKA, Nutwatch? - 12 month spends to date = 2.60% of current retirement "pot" (as at end May 2025)6
