Started off with babysteps - literally yesterday. I read that one should set up walking as an integral part of weight loss, and should set up a habit of walking first, and after a couple of weeks integrate diet plans.I managed15 minutes walking, and didnt feel too bad,but during the night I suffered badly from cramps in the calves and as forMY TOES!!!!!! !!They twisted in ways they never twisted before. So only walked 100 yards,4 minutes, today. Do more tomorrowAs for people with thyroid issues making progress slow, intermittent fasting may be necessary to get the body going the right way. Still not decided on any real plans yet.Perhaps mostly plant based,or HFLC If I can manage 2 lb in April, doubling my normal loss per month,I think I will be very encouraged.Back in 2017 I lost 4 stone in a few months with not to great an effort,so being reduced to losing only a pound, with great effort is most annoying!
Here's hoping no cramps tonight.........6 -
Well done on your loss Mary 👏
I will confess to liking all food not just ice creamwhich explains so much 🤔
Dusty I'm surprised you can stay awake with a mixture of the thyroid and anaemia
otb666 are you eating enough?I think I can consider myself lucky as my doctor did eventually put me on tablets for my thyroid, it took over a year. I was on the borderline and it does still fluctuate up and down. I had to push my doc as my quality of life was not great with just working and sleeping I found that sometimes the squeaky wheel does get you attention, he did admit that as they had no benchmark for me when It was normal they had no idea what my normal had been and therefore borderline could be very low for me. I've been on tablets for about 15 years and a added advantage is free prescriptions so my inhalers are also covered under that.Life shrinks or expands in proportion to one's courage - Anais Nin6 -
Ugh, slinking back in hanging head in shame. Haven't weighed in and my best hope is that I can maintain when I do at the weekend. Eating rubbish and had four evenings of drinking - calories from drinking, then eating more rubbish the next day, too tired to exercise, Haven't run since Saturday, only swum once.
I really need to get my head back round tracking / calorie counting - it's the thing that works consistently for me, when I put the effort in.
Running club tomorrow - and I commit to tracking all food for the day.6 -
Tut tut you know the rules CCW no slinking or hanging head in shame allow on here 🙂 be kind to yourself and I'll lend you the pen 🖊 and ruler 📏 to draw a line under it and you can start afresh tomorrow

Brambling,I fall asleep several times a day,and lethargy is ever present .And brain fog and everything but the kitchen sink! :/I take them for granted really......Must say though this last week I am definitely feeling more focused. But Mr Dusty calls the chair in front of the telly ''the sleep chair'' because within 5 minutes of sitting in it I fall asleep. Even at 9.30 in the morning!6

otb666 said:@Brambling Thanks I will try more walking, nice to see so many fellow unactive thyroiders here. Food wise if i give today as an example bowl of leek potato soup, 5 cups of coffee, glass on wine and packet of crisps and snax packet of cheddars I know i am just hitting 600-1000 calories a day And have done for some time and yet no weight loss. I fear this is because of meds I am on. I will go for a walk once a week and see if that makes a difference before i set targets as dont want to set myself up for a fail. I dont want to put any further weight on which is my main priority On the plus side I dont have to worry too much about food prices going up as I dont eat much
Bluegreen143, I also like to mix yogurt with chocolate. I add some fruit and find it satisfies that dessert craving6 -
@Angelica123 I have been eating under 1000 per day for last 2 years since being on levo WFH, and now retired and have gained 1.5 stone. I used to be able to eat what i want and not gain weight. Its like my body has totally changed now. If i eat what i used to eat I would just carry on gaining weight. I dont know if its middle age/menopause/under active thyroid/staying in because of covid. Today i had 3 cups of coffee bowl of soup pizza slice, slice of cake with berries and hand full of cheddars and glass of wine and banana Weight now 76.2 from 76.5 I also have a raging toothache and have to wait 3 weeks for an extraction so i am a bit off food at the moment. I am due a review of meds for under active thyroid in june. I am trying to base diet around veg and cheese and meat as this seems to stop bloating and inflammation Thanks for your concern it means a lot and I am not on my own21k savings no debt4
