I suspect that the Post Office will have an agreement with the Passport Office. It is not the same as withdrawing cash on the debit card.

However, this is contrary to the earlier comment, that the post office clerk said that their card reader did not recognise the Chase card.

You cannot use a Chase card to withdraw or deposit cash at the counter (banking services), but you can use it to pay for goods and services (purchases).

I'm probably expecting a 'computer says no' reply from Chase as I fired an email off to them.
Question, has anyone had success applying and getting this account without the relevant id. I've only got the old paper drivers license, no passport?
I can only offer up a bus pass with my photo on it, it's brand new too, ha ha!😁
    A none starter? 🤔

I have been going back and forth with Chase on the chat via the app - they keep saying they see no reason why it should not have worked, and that it must have been a temporary glitch with the reader at that particular time - they have told me to try again and let them know if any problems.  Where did you get the info that you can't use it to withdraw cash as that goes against what they are saying to me in the chat.

The Post Office aren't an ATM, and Chase have no arrangements with the PO for banking services. Therefore you cannot use the PO for deposits to or withdrawals from your Chase account. If the Chase CS claim that the PO can provide banking services for Chase, they are misinformed, and you should complain about having got false information from them.

From the Post Office: https://www.postoffice.co.uk/everydaybanking (scroll down for the full list of banks participating in the scheme)
It might be that the people you have chatted to at Chase think you mean getting cashback with a purchase (as you could in a shop), which may indeed be possible.
  • You can usually use your Chase debit card to withdraw from any ATM outside the Post Office, just not at the counter.

Had the same issue with other bank cards, whose providers do not have an agreement with the PO, e.g. Monzo.

    Hi all,
Just went through the chase app to open an account, not too bad a process, took a while to get pics right lol.
Now says the checking info and could take 24hrs to process......
How long does it take to get the account setup and how long to receive card etc?
I didn't see anywhere where I could say what name I wanted on the card i.e not have my middle name printed on the card for example.

First ever app based bank account...

    Thanks

    Kev
