Do you need to keep any money in the current account or can that remain £0 and just have some money in the savings account?
You don't need to use the current account at all if you don't like to but it does pay a nice 1% cashback on many card purchases

    Hi all,
Just went through the chase app to open an account, not too bad a process, took a while to get pics right lol.
Now says the checking info and could take 24hrs to process......
How long does it take to get the account setup and how long to receive card etc?
I didn't see anywhere where I could say what name I wanted on the card i.e not have my middle name printed on the card for example.

First ever app based bank account...
FWIW, my card came with my name as "Firstname Lastname", no middle names. I don't remember being given a choice. The ID verification process is normally just a few minutes - and you may need a few tries to pass it. Once verified, you can get into the app straight away and obtain your virtual debit card details. Physical card takes a week or two to arrive.
When you choose the PIN for the card, either during setup, or afterwards, the next step is a list of options for the name on the card. IIRC these are:
    • Firstname Lastname
    • Title Firstname Lastname
    • FirstInitial Lastname
    • Other
    Or similar

@kev2009, have you been asked to set a PIN for the card yet? If not the card won't be shipped until you complete that (may be next step)
My card took 4 or 5 days, but you can use online as soon as the account is created, as the card details are available in the app.

    Yes, that's jogged my memory.

    Hi All,

Just catching up on sorting out my savings acount. Currently have some money with Marcus (less than 85k) - is there any reason to keep it there - or should I just move to Chase?
Quite simply no, move it to chase that’s what I’ve done. Much better rate.
I got just over £100 in interest on the 1st of this month.
Im holding out for a 1 or 2 year fixed deal, as the boe should be raising it rate tomorrow I’m waiting to see.

ah maybe I should of waited for a even better account :)

Just managed to get account setup, took 3 goes on sending pictures....

One and two year fixed term accounts already pay quite a bit more than Chase. There is speculation of a 0.5% increase tomorrow, although that seems a little strong to me at this point.
Thanks, yeah i saw but some wanted a fairly high min deposit and it is fixed with no with drawls allowed so id sooner an account that immediate access or allows couple of withdrawals a year, if needed.

I have an account elsewhere I was using for savings which was ok at the time but the rate was eventually reduced and now i think this one beats it so I'm considering moving the money out and into this but still little weary of app based as never had one before, always used well known banks/building societies in the past so hence not put a large amount of money in it yet.

I did find it interesting that the app has no log out option... all my other banking apps have a log out.

Nice that the app lets you choose display name on card but not quiet the option i wanted was showing i.e. I wanted MR.... but went with firstname surname in the end, shame not a option with title.

    Thanks

    Kev

Yes I've setup the pin, it says card will arrive 3-5 days.

I didn't get the Title option.. I think my options were:-

    firstname surname
    first letter of firstname surname
    firstname first letter of surname
    surname

It does time you out after a period of inactivity. However, it doesn't log you out when you lock your screen, which is not ideal and something I highlighted to them a while back.

I am closing the app to be sure and yes I believe it times out after 2 minutes of inactivity.

Personally, I'd prefer a log out option, then you know you have signed out.

I don't tend to make too many card payments, i tend to use cash for lunches etc as otherwise i end up with a large statement every month and some companies don't have the same name as the shop so I end up thinking who are they and what was that for lol so i stopped that and use cash now.

Most of my card payments are done on credit card so have some protection if something goes wrong etc plus I have a bit f time before I actually need to pay for it :) I used to get cash back on credit card but I believe that stopped a few months ago.

I never received any interest in my savings account on1st May. When I went into the account it states 0% interest but I thought it was supposed to be 1.5%. It’s the account with the piggy bank icon. Anybody know what has gone wrong? I’ve tried messaging them, but no reply so far. I’m very disappointed as I have moved a lot of savings into there from other accounts.

Most smartphones and tablets have a swipe out option for any app.

My phone accesses this with the small square icon at the foot of the main screen. On my iPad, you swipe up from the bottom to show all of the recently used apps and from there you swipe the app to close it.
