The second you buy something on a credit card you are taking on debt as it is not your money you are spending. Just because they don't charge you interest for the first x days doesn't stop it being a debt to the card issuer.

Don’t work on credit cards, tried my Barclaycard, MBNA and American Express.
Shame we’re over 2k.
Works on my rent, council tax, water bill, will be making an over payment to Octopus next week, will update this if it works.

Lucky you, they wouldn't pay out on my council tax payment. Probably depends on the local authority.

Just a warning for anyone who like me prefers to make card payment through Paypal online whenever that option is available. Chase classes this as Direct debit and therefore no Cashback will be received.

Just spent £1,100 on flights and paid through Paypal using my Chase card and only then realised when it wasn't on the pending list. I have paid with Paypal through Amex regularly with same method and got the cashback so it was a surprise to me.

If the payment was made *by card* in Paypal directly to a merchant, then it should appear as a Paypal fronted card payment with the MCC unchanged. You'd see it on your statement as PP*simplejet or similar. However, if you've completed bank funding at Paypal then Paypal will default to collecting the payment via Direct Debit instead of using your debit card. This can be overridden, but you would need to do this on the Paypal confirmation screen.

I have done this to buy PSN top up cards for the kids and it worked just fine. Got my 1% cashback as expected.

Spent £100 or so on eBay, used PayPal with chase card and paid Cashback.
Robert dyas, via PayPal and got Cashback.

I think @masonic has guessed this transaction correctly.

Hence why I do not link bank accounts to PayPal.
