I haven't seen any iPhone users complaining so there's your answer, get an iPhone. And before anybody assumes I have one ........... yes I do and have had no problems with Chase whatsoever.
I have an android phone that cost less than £200 and have had no problems. I certainly wouldn't be paying a silly price for a flagship phone just to get this or any other account.

Side question, is there clarity on whether the 1% cashback counts as savings interest (i.e. is it taxable)?

Most other accounts advertising cashback are not taxed however HMRC can be inconsistent on this.
HMRC are consistent on this. However, some providers do not structure their incentives in a manner that permits them to be classed as cashback. In this case, it is clearly a discount on a debit card spend, so bone fide cashback. It is not a regular payment made in exchange for non-spending related activities, which would be classed as an annual payment and taxable.

I have 5 other banking apps no problems, i did speak to Chase support didn't really get a cognative answer other then '' it seems your phone is not supported'' The software coders should be burning the midnight oil to get this fixed.
I suspect they're not particularly interested in supporting 32bit hardware given it's such a small percentage of the market.
I suspect building a website that any device can use, old or new, will probably be more of a priority indeed.
I don't think Chase has any plans to expand to online banking via website. The general trend is a move away from web in favour of app-based.

Pretty sure it's paid on the 1st for everyone, right? (At least that's what the terms say...)

I could only find that it’s paid monthly on the 5% top up account.
    Not the 1.5%.
    Thanks.
