And you can do this without rooting your phone? If not, then that would itself potentially stop banking apps from working. They tend to check for this as it is a clear security risk.

Must have tried 20 times now with PP as identity. Don't have photo license.

As i understand it, no this was not rooting. Once the app is installed on your phone you just go back to your own phone model setting. Just to be crystal clear i haven't done it and i don't recommend it due to the reason you have given.

Saying my ID isn't being sent after 6 attempts it will be a pass for me.

It can take some time to upload a high resolution photo, which might result in the upload timing out. Try running a speed test and noting your upload speed. The problem could also be on their side.

Well you'd think so wouldn't you?  Unfortunately not.

I tried installing the Chase App on a completely different device (tablet, not phone) and "signing in" to my account.  The user ID is effectively your telephone number, so is available to all and sundry.  Again all you need is the passcode to get in.  Further, it also serves the culprit with the convenience of locking the genuine user out of the app on their phone, because it only allows one device at once to be signed in to the account.

There's a single point of failure on security (the passcode) underlying all this.  That's the failure, and that's why I'll be sticking with systems which use multiple levels of security to make it harder for the bad guys.

Then that is worrying indeed - if someone can register the app on a new device without anything other than passcode. They should be using one-time SMS or push notification to existing device at least. I suggest you report this to them. I'll dust off one of my old devices and see if I can load the app on it and if so will do likewise.

Edit: I've checked and you cannot register a new device without SMS verification. Doing so deregisters the original device.

Same! although I did then receive a text to say "we've run our id checks, head to the app for an update" - there is no update, just the same screen asking for photo id. Arrgh!
