Quick question to all that have opened this account recently

do they ask for photo ID check on EVERY application? Or is it just for some people?
We've opened 6 accounts but only had to provide the required ID proof for opening x1 account each

Someone made a comment on a subreddit discussing this savings account that their transfer from their Natwest account was blocked, and after a call from their Fraud team they have now been told they need to go into a branch to prove their chase account is legitimate.

I hope Natwest isn't going to ask me to do this the next time they decide to block a payment to my Chase account (right now stands at twice in two days..) Will also annoy any customer in an area where their local branch has been shut.

If a bank made me do that, I'd definitely use the opportunity to close my account to avoid a further visit in the future.

I've just signed up with relatively few problems.

Anyone who has dual nationality might want to note that it asks you to confirm you are a UK citizen and then asks if you are also a national of any other country. As I am, I entered the relevant country, but it then said I could not apply as they are only accepting account holders who are UK resident. That makes no sense, because they did not ask about residence and this is not the same thing as citizenship.

As they appear to interpret the answer as meaning you are not UK resident, which is an incorrect inference for me, I went back and changed my answer to say UK citizen only. It seemed perfectly happy for me to change this and happily carried on.

I am a dual UK-US citizen, and I had no problems signing up. You are supposed to select both the UK and your other citizenship on that screen.
Surprised at that - Marcus rejected me for a savings account, though I'm a UK-only citizen, because I had, about 15 years earlier, lived in the USA for a couple of years, and had thus paid USA tax then. They took a ridiculous view that this might make me liable to US reporting requirements, and didn't want to get involved in that.

Android 8 is no longer supported by Google, and hasn't received security updates since October 2021.
Can you what the security update version is on your mobile?

See which Android version you have
    Open your phone's Settings app.
Near the bottom, tap System And then System update.
See your 'Android version' and 'Android security update'.

Android 11 last security update was 5th Jan 2022 - last successful update as of now. Android version is 20220114. I did reset phone to factory settings as well.
While a few months behind (many Android phones lag behind Google) will be more up to date than many.

Worth raising your issue with Chase support. They may not be able to fix, but at least will be aware.
  • Opened a Chase current account, had to add some money to it before the option to open the savings account appeared on the app. How do you transfer money from current account to savings can't seem to to find the option. Have £50 balance in the current account.
