Hi Axemanwhy you being so selective
You missed the point of my post which was not attempting selectivity, but putting an answer to the post from your Senior Exec - ajh - who had posted that:TP are not (telling porkies)
The independent ASA says otherwise!
The great concern with the T+ is that your major "porky" - to consistently misleadingly advertise "the uk's cheapest gas and electricity" (still being used on your own website) - is that it is so cynical, and no reputable organisation once found out would continue to use this misleading statement as the starting point of it's publicity.
*******************************
You say that I have "promoted" Powergen 20 times - this is just not true.
I have no connection with them.
I did put up a thread regarding getting an extra incentive for anyone switching to them, but that was in the spirit of saving members some money!
I have responded to questions raised by that, and any others regarding Powergen where I can help, but have no axe to grind on their behalf, and certainly don't promote them.
You, Axeman, on the other hand, have twice been "outed" as a T+ rep on this Board, as well as had your posts edited by the Abuse Controller on at least two occasions for breaking the rules by posting affiliated links!
13 of your 15 posts to date have concerned your "promotion" of T+, and one other alludes to them!
(You also tried to mislead us in this forum by suggesting that the figures I used for T+ prices were incorrect.)0 -
Smartasss
I don't know what your problem is but, looking at your links, I found 18 complaints for British Gas alone. So why you being so selective.
Also if you can get to it, look at the link below for all the complaints against the big companies. T+ not included.
These are all compaints about direct selling and advertising etc.
Even Powergen, which I notice you have promoted in one way or another around the forums at least 20 times.

Hi Axeman... Ajh; numerouno; alan john howes TP rep here.
I did tell you that that the more you write the more it will be used against you as there are some on this site who have information at their finger tips and use this web site with uncanny ease; a bit of lateral thinking required.
Once again I ask you and ALLL TP reps to give this forum a wide berth... be content that you know what you know and given the work you too can retire within four or five years of joining.

What's that I see.... absolute nothing... it seems that the TP reps have taken heed of my advice to make this site 'off limits'.
My congratulation go to all TP reps for their silence... yes silence is truly golden... however I would not be suprised if a 'NEW' TP rep wrote in and kicked it all off again... but as I previously wrote 'you can claim to be who ever you want to be' ... doesn't necessarily make it true does it !
Yours most sincerely

Late bills again! I emailed Customer Services to ask why I hadn't received my e bill for December and without a word of apology they sent me a copy!!! However, I also noticed that the money taken this month is due on the 23rd December instead of the last day of the month as usual. On the plus side, and before Smartass raises his/her hackles, I got my club discount this month which I didn't expect because I've only been using them since February 2004.0
-
I also received my discount this month. Which turned out to give me a bill of ZERO. Nill. I have effectively had a month of utilities for free. Not bad really.
I am a Telecomplus/UtilityWarehouse distributor and have been for some time.
There are changes all the time happening within the company, epsecially regarding providing the BEST deals for customers.
I would also like to wish all distributors/customers/prospectice customers in here a happy New Year.

I am sure that other people on this board have jobs, both part time or full time, and I'm sure that their efforts pay their utilities bill also. You may claim that this is just a hobby for you, but really, most sales people get paid something for the work they put in.
General equation:
Work or effort + sales effort >> money to spend
Wow ![ Eat, Drink and be Merry - for tomorrow we get the bill ]0 -
Declaration: I am a Telecom Plus "Independent Distributor"
I have taken ages to read through this thread and got registered just to be able to post to it.
With regards to the cheapest claims by Telecom Plus, can I just say this:
I think "The Cheapest" claim by Telecom Plus is a generalisation. I think that in most cases "The Cheapest" claim will hold good - but that there will always be the odd case to disprove any rule. I don't have the luxury of the time I've wasted reading this thread to compare every multitude of possible combinations of usages / areas / multiple energy uses, etc, etc - Just like the possibke amount of moves on a chess board.
If it will please the people on here who dislike Telecom Plus's unmodified claim to simply be "The Cheapest", I am quite happy to add to this In virtually every instance Telecom Plus will be The Cheapest Gas and Electricity supplier in the country, adding the caveat when I'm selling it 'Your case may be different - but do look carefully at the quotation the company send you on a cost comparison basis before finally committing yourself'
I've added this post to this thread because as a Telecom Plus distributor, who does the job for the right reasons, being discredited and accused of being dishonest with broad sweeps of the pen from people who don't know me is a tad upsetting to say the least!
May I assure all Telecom Plus's detractors that I earn a pittance from each customer I sign up energy wise over the course of a year - in 99.99% of cases, less than a tenner in commission. Please believe me when I say that I would not jeopardise my integrity or standing in the eyes of society for such poultry amounts if I did not believe that the company had a good heart when making any of its marketing claims or thought it was ripping off its customers.
I hope I haven't upset anyone in posting this to this thread and trust I won't get 'flamed' or maligned or libelled, etc, etc.
I recognise the concerns of the likes of Smartass, etc, but I actually think they are only really upset because of the sweeping, unqualified nature of the cheapest statement rather than serious problems with the quality or nature or cost of the services Telecom Plus provide. The figures from 'their side' against Telecom Plus in the examples they can give show only a few pounds discepancy at most over the course of a year. If these discrepancies were substantial amounts (£50 or greater) rather than, eg £2.46 I would be very concerned and look again at my own involvement.
I should therefore hope my observation on matters might help those people look again at the statement of being the cheapest from Telecom Plus. Like any rule, it's always the exception that proves it.
In closing can I ask "Let's respect each other", eh? This applies to both sides. If we take the view that the 'other side' is posting purely for disingenuous reasons then no-one wins because we end up shouting at each other.
I'll close by saying that whether or not Telecom Plus in any specific instance is the absolute cheapest or is in the "cheapest group" of a broad spread of say a fiver in costs over 12 months, they do do consumers a good all round deal (except for the pig {landline telephony}) and at the very least, keep the likes of British Gas and Powergen, etc on their toes. This has to be good for consumers.
Take care people0 -
I am also a new reader of this site. This thread seems to generate more hot air than it took to lift Montgolfier's Balloon!
For me it is simple: As a consumer I do not particularly care about anyone else. In particular I do not care about smartass, ioon, etc. They are entitled to their opinions but they are not relevant to me.
All I care about is that for ME - and I can only talk for myself - TelecomsPlus are the UK's Cheapest supplier of Gas and Electricity (and I have a Masters degree in statistics so I CAN work out the figures correctly). As such I am a customer of theirs and happy with it, as I find their service is on a par with the other suppliers I have tried in my time.
If and when they cease to be the cheapest supplier FOR ME I will switch to whoever is the cheapest supplier at that time.
Perhaps everyone would be happier if they just did the same.0 -
I don't doubt that you can work out the figures, but if you think TPlus are the cheapest then you haven't done it for every region and every level of consumption against every competitor.
It simply isn't true.
Unfortunately some of us are a little more altruistic than yourselves.
I do care about my elderly parents and other less able people who do not have masters degrees.
I do not want my relatives and friends to be misled.
I can understand how everything is a little more black and white if you are jsut out for yourself.
Do you not have loved ones who are less able, elderly people who are forgetful and loosing their mental competance?
If you become like this then who who will look after you?
I am happy with Tplus from my own personal point of view, however I'm not sure I like the way they conduct their business e.g. disregard for direct debit laws.0 -
Lisyloo,
In the post above, I accepted that being the cheapest energy supplier for absolutely everyone would be nigh-on impossible, but added that if not the absolute cheapest, then TP would certainly be in the cheapest group by no more than two or three pounds over the course of a year....
Do you accept my assumption that GENERALLY they are the cheapest?
Do you accept my assumption that in the instances where they aren't the absolute cheapest, then they are in that "cheapest group" of suppliers??
If you do accept these assumptions, can I ask you why you're getting so uptight about a few quid at most? Surely, if the company's heart is in the right place then surely it is doing (or attempting to do) the right thing?0
