My husband swears they are the cheapest, but Im sure we were not paying this much before ? ?
I am not defending Tplus at all, but you should take into account that prices are going up across the board substantially.
Therefore even if you are always with the cheapest suppliers it likely that you will have seen significant increases.0 -
I'm currently with Telecom Plus who have been cheapest in Northwest for some time now, and as martin mentioned gone from one of the top to the top provider in the bottom!
The letter they recently sent along with the price hike clearly states in the terms and conditions 'customers who take out an additional none energy service eg mobile phone, will get the cheapest rates' so along with a price hike I feel there bullying me into taking out another one of their services to keep my cost per unit down
After a phone call the gent denied the T+C's said this and explained I would still get the cheapest rates by just taking dual fuel off them. So why the statement in their terms and conditions? (you'll find it on the price increase leaflet)
My dad the 'energy guru' who spends night upon night scouring the internet for the best deals and going off the raw cost per unit figures found https://www.ebico.co.uk who dont have a standing charge were the cheapest for me. They have had one price hike since 2003 and that was on the 1st of September this year.
Ebico's EQUIGAS charges 1.94p per kWh (including VAT) regardless of how much you use or how you pay.
Telecom plus charges 1.985p per kWh AND £2.33 monthly standing charge AND montly membership fee of £1.76 for being in the utility club per month!
see for electric prices >> http://www.ebico.co.uk/en/open/pages/powertariffsen.php
for my area thats 7.73p (including VAT) for electric.
Telecom plus charges 7.854p for electric and 1.52p standing charge.
I know were not talking big money here per unit, but as telecom plus were cheapest of the Big 6 as they put it, these rates are better PLUS £27.96 gas standing charge PLUS £21.12 Membership fee PLUS £18.24 electric standing charge.thats £67.32 a year saving alone before the unit costs are considered !0 -

3. .......... we guarantee our prices will always remain competetive compared with the cheapest tariffs available from the "Big 6" suppliers.
I note the use of the word competitive and not cheaper in this part of the guarantee. They are also quite specific about not including club membership, cashback, dual fuel offers and online tariffs.
If you have found a better deal for you, go for it.

I recently had a request for an additional 30% increase !, they displayed no new rates on their website and I picked them up via Energywatch - they have made about a 25% increase. After a phone call they reduced payments substantially but are still over £100- £180 per year more than at least 4 other companies for my level of power use - including NPower and Powergen. The only problem is if I switch what are the others going to do, they are obviously not keen on picking up business because I emailed to ask about possible rises in order to switch and have had no response. Anyone have a crystal ball?0

1st of all I am a Telecomplus Distributor - Their price increases on 1st october was on their website at 9am Monday 3rd October - 2nd I fail to understand after being a Distributor for almost 8 years now how you got a reduction , Everyone pays the same price for all the services , and allways have - I have followed this discussion since it started and have never joined in but feel I need an answer to the above claims you have made - now if your original energy payments were set to high or to low that is a different matter alltogether ?0

I have been with Telecom Plus for my electric and gas about 14 months now. However I;m sure when I applied they said they would give me £10.00 back after 12 months. I have not received this payment, does anyone if it has now been stopped. If so I have been conned.
Thanks,0 -
Have you checked your bill to see if you got it back without your knowledge ? How many services do you have ? as you get £10 to £50 cash back on every anniversary you have been with them - 1 service = 0 , 2 services =£10 , 3 services = £20 , 4 services= £30 , 5 or 6 services = £50 , no it has never stopped and so far no media ( Tv , Radio , Newspaper ) has ever accused them of " conning " customers0

No it has not been stopped.
Firstly it would have been deducted from your bill so you might not have noticed it, so first thing you need to do is check.
Secondly, there are terms and conditions which apply, so if you have been in arrears (or similar) then you might not qualify.
If after checking your bills you find you haven't received it then call them and ask.
I received mine and others on this board received theirs as well so I don't think there is any general problem.
There's probably and explanation which will be solved with a quick check and/or phone call.0 -
I did try calling several times and have been told I am 14 to 20 person in the queue.
