I don't think that Martin would want to promote any particular company because it is important that he remains independent.

However there is no reason why someone else couldn't do this.
Why don't you set it up yourself Neil ?

I do something similar for Talk Talk and divert all the referral money to charity as do others to varying degrees.
Of course you would have to keep all your posts about it on the referrers board, but I think it's a great idea to divert as much money as possible to goo causes.

Although the Telecom Prices seem reasonable for gas/electirc they are certainly not the chepeast for me. Haing used a comparison site, Telecom Plus were placed fifth and eighth for me, and about 10% more than the cheapest!

Thanks for that - all I meant was that, far from promoting one company, Martin's charity could benefit if anyone actually WANTED to try Telecom Plus, Utility Warehouse Discount Club.

I wondered if that would be any different to the fact that you can join a number of companies through the site, and the income received goes towards maintaining the site.

Bearing in mind that there are a number of people who think its nice to have all their utilities on one bill, and like the fact that the company has consistently offered cutting edge prices, mostly without minimum contract, it is compromising no-one to provide a facility whereby they can try the services of T P via Martin.

I have already been active in helping a number of charities fund raise in this way, and , again , there are a number of people who would rather pay their bills knowing that by doing them through this or that provider , they are helping the charity of their choice.

Hope that clarifies things. I typed it out once, lost it when I sent it, so I'm not sure my train of thought is quite on track!!!

By all means , switch to whoever you like, but so far as I know, UWDC are the only people who provide a WRITTEN quotation against your existing suppliers' energy bills, demonstrating both the actual savings against those bills, and a projected annual saving.

Hi Nigel - Absolutely I totally agree.

Just to give you a bit of history (unless you want to read the whole lot)

I was originally saying that I didn't think TPlus should make misleading claims about being THE CHEAPEST as many of us know that this is not always the case.
There are several cases of judgements against TPlus by the ASA where they have been told to improve their advertising.

Paul was claiming that the difference would only be about £2 or £3 in cases where Tplus weren't cheapest.
I disputed this and made a rough "ball park" estimate of £50.
Paul then demanded I back this up (which is fair enough).

I spent some time looking for my figures for my previous switch which were published on this site. I couldn't find them and subsequently I've learnt that not all data was carried across in the server move.
Paul was pretty damning towards me at that point as I could not at that moment immediately back up my claim.

I was going through some stressful personal circumstances at the time (possibly redundancy) followed by some time abroad and I simply did not have the time to meet his demand in the very short timescale that he was demanding.
However I've now given an exmaple plus Hansi has given another similar example on a different thread.

So I was just coming back to back up my claim. Albeit not in the timescale that some others would have liked (I do have other responsibilities).

If you want to re-open the debate about the advertising then that's up to you, as far as I am concerned I have backed up my original claim on the subject.
sorry about the redundancy - but what with the pensions crisis and all that, no wonder that within the next 5 years or so, as the BBC were reporting the other day, more people than ever before will be doing TWO jobs. No wonder some people opt for Telecom Plus as the vehicle for their second, or part time work.

Neil, you have made 10 posts on MSE. One is a cryptic reference to your user ID.

The rest are naked attempts to fill the forum with spam referral links for your enterprise. Many of these have been edited by board guides or AbCon. I'm wondering just how tolerant they need to be, given that other spam posts have been removed. But that is their decision.

You don't seem to have shown any other interest in the wide spectrum of subjects here. But this post plumbs new depths as far as I'm concerned. Now we can see just how grubby and lacking in respect for oneself and others some salesmen for this company are. You are suggesting that someone who has recently lost a job should think of pursuing the same anti-social behaviour as you. Is that how desperate people need to be?

Do you really believe this person will sell the product? Just how insensitive are you?

what i do not understand is that there are specific guidelines on this site, especially about advertising and touting for business. however, everytime i log onto this thread, yet another T+ rep stating how good their company is. then again, its what you would expect from a company with a a blatant disregard for the ASA

    FREEisBetterThanCHEAP:

Thank you for your 'kind' offer (which was removed by the board moderator because you were breaching the guidelines again), but the comparison sites clearly show that you are 11% more expensive than the cheapest! Anyway, signed up with my current supplier on 23/11/2000 and have yet to receive a bill!

Can you also beat my telephone suppliers?
    1. I pay nothing to 1899 for my calls to UK, Germany, USA and Canada landlines 24 hours/day, 365 days/year!
    2. I pay nothing to OneTel for their directory enquiry service or their weekend/evening calls and they gave me £20 for signing up with them!
    3. My Vodafone SIM cost cost £30 and gives me 200 minutes cross network/month plus unlimited weekend calls to UK landlines, with no line rental!

The only point I think we can agree on is that FREE IS BETTER THAN CHEAP!

Just to be clear (as I don't want to mislead anybody) I was not made redundant. I was put "at risk" of redundancy but other people were chosen and not me. It is a legal requirement to put everyone doing the same job "at risk" and then consider them all.
It was a very stressful time, because I didn't know where I stood for a few weeks and was obviously busy making contingency plans (which was more important at the time that defending myself here).

I don't blame people at all for working for Telecom Plus if they need to boost their incomes.

However as many people are saying repeatedly on these boards, they are not always the cheapest and they do make some dubious claims about that in their adverstising for which they have been officially criticised by the ASA.

You have my sympathy. I did stress a few years ago and didn't like it. I certainly hope that everything turns out well.
