It's also worth noting that if you gave them any switch or credit card number then they will use this (without your authority) if you chose to cancel your direct debit.
You could of course then pursue it via your bank, but that's hassle for you and they've got your money i.e. possession is 9/10ths of the law.0 -
Aren't we getting a little serious about all this. My comment about "having it and not giving it back" was meant to be lighthearted banter. Good heavens, we are only talking £20 here and if it means that I have to stay with them for a few more months, then so be it! If Nigel would be kind enough to pm me, I can give him my account number and I'm sure he would check out for me as to where I stand on this!0

"we are only talking £20 here and if it means that I have to stay with them for a few more months, then so be it!"
It definitely says it's pro-rated in clause 8 so you should be able to keep MOST of the money.
You will have to do the calcalations, but it might not be worth staying.
I'm sure you can work it our for yourself but it depends whether your savings over the 3 month period exceed the clawback.
If you've been with them since May then the pro-rated clawback should be only a few quid.
I would do the calculations before making a decision about whether to stay or go.0 -
Nigel, if you wish to speak to someone with the above qualifications, you can call us direct and WE will be happy to share our knowledge....

lisyloo wrote:They need to look at the service on offer, any tie-ins and also make sure they compare like with like e.g. DD prices with one supplier with the same DD prices for another (which is NOT what you did for phone prices). If this was a one-off mistake then fair enough
I disagree here. I believe people want the best value or cheapest price for the service(s) that they want. Sometimes best value does not come with the lowest price.
I've made a lot of mistakes in the past,a nd no doubt I'll make more in the future.

Hi Nigel - I am in agreement with you that people have different criteria.
Sometimes cost is all important and other times it's the overall "value for money".
However the decision is not always black and white.
As an exmaple Utilita have a tie-in and therefore whilst cheapest at the moment, might not always be the cheapest in future.
People making a decision on price need to know this information so they can decide whether to accept that risk or not.
I'm not advocating certain criteria - that is up to the consumer.
But I am advocating doing all the reasearch and knowing all the relevant facts before applying your own criteria.0 -

Hi loon - who is WE.
Do you represent an organistion?0 -

Absolutely. There's an article in today's Mail on Sunday. Atlantic was the cheapest for gas by £6 and £7 per year compared to the next two, when the research was carried out. T+ was third. I think the utilities market is quite competetive now and I believe I have the best overall deal fo me personally.

Martin - why dont you register your charity with Telecom Plus for people to sign up with the company if they so wish? At least then you would be able to give people the choice. I mean, if they actually WANT free phone calls to friends / family etc from their mobiles and landlines or the convenience of just one bill covering all their utilities (at cutting edge prices), for example, wouldn't it be great if they could sign up , online, knowing that the commission paid by the company is going to a worthy cause?
Many thanks
