Thanks. I have already found I can save £63 so have posted a reply on another thread.
A few months ago I got flamed for making claims I couldn't back up but I was going through a redundancy process at the time and have now provided the info.
You have probably already done this, but have you checked that equivalent price rises have taken place at Powergen/
i.e. TPlus raised prices very recently.
It would be silly to switch only to find that Powergen are about to raise prices.
Do you know whether Powergen have raised their prices recently?
If they haven't raised them for a while then it could be a false economy.
You probably have to get on the phone for this info, although I do remember someone posting a useful link at one time that showed the price rises (long time ago).
If you have any info on Powergen then please post it, as I for one would like to know (and others may as well).0 -
The cheapest powergen tariff is powergen online.
You have to take both gas + electric to be able to have it.
They last raised prices on this tariff from 1/2/05.
If you do transfer to them and they subsequently raise prices (which you aren't prepared to accept) they do allow you to leave them and don't charge you the new rate (providing you set up the transfer process within 14 days of being notified of a price increase)0 -
Thank you Smartass. I'll have another look at the Powergen tariff.0

lisyloo wrote:I can now switch to a company called Utilita for a savings of £63.03 which is higher than my original estimate of £50.
The information comes from energylinx
I checked my numbers and energylinx reckons I can save £17.27 per year. However, there are no incentives with that company and at present I get cash back of £20 per year, so I would be worse off by £2.63.
I think you'll agree, that each person should look for their own individual best deal?

Quoting Utilita, NigeWick (from T+) wrote:NigeWick wrote:there are no incentives with that company.
Very misleading and completely false!
The whole idea behind this company is that they do give incentives by way of credits which you can either use to buy energy saving products or (maybe better) get worthwhile cashback from your energy bills - 8% is paid by cheque annually.
******************************************
To confuse us more, the T+ Rep states that he will get a further £20 off the energylinx quote.
This is not true.
Quotes from Energylinx include any annual discounts, so in the case of a quote for T+, they will factor in the £10 discount T+ give for taking both fuels from them.
If the T+ rep is getting £20 discount from T+, then that must be for taking another service from them (as well as both gas and electricity), so the other £10 being received should not be being presented to us as being part of a total of £20 being discounted off the T+ price for gas and electricity.0 -
"I think you'll agree, that each person should look for their own individual best deal?"
Hi Nigel - Absolutely I totally agree.
Just to give you a bit of history (unless you want to read the whole lot)
I was originally saying that I didn't think TPlus should make misleading claims about being THE CHEAPEST as many of us know that this is not always the case.
There are several cases of judgements against TPlus by the ASA where they have been told to improve their advertising.
Paul was claiming that the difference would only be about £2 or £3 in cases where Tplus weren't cheapest.
I disputed this and made a rough "ball park" estimate of £50.
Paul then demanded I back this up (which is fair enough).
I spent some time looking for my figures for my previous switch which were published on this site. I couldn't find them and subsequently I've learnt that not all data was carried across in the server move.
Paul was pretty damning towards me at that point as I could not at that moment immediately back up my claim.
I was going through some stressful personal circumstances at the time (possibly redundancy) followed by some time abroad and I simply did not have the time to meet his demand in the very short timescale that he was demanding.
However I've now given an exmaple plus Hansi has given another similar example on a different thread.
So I was just coming back to back up my claim. Albeit not in the timescale that some others would have liked (I do have other responsibilities).
If you want to re-open the debate about the advertising then that's up to you, as far as I am concerned I have backed up my original claim on the subject.0 -
hansi wrote:I joined TP+ in May 2004 and received my discount in December 2004. Clause 8 of your T+C's state that this cashback can be reclaimed within three months after the date it was paid or credited if services are cancelled. I take this to mean that I can cancel after 1st April with no penalties? Please correct me if I am wrong.
Now I'm confused, I thought that cashback was an annual event, on the anniversary of when you started the services. If you joined in May 2004, surely you will not be due the cashback until this May?

Yes we're confused too, but quite clearly several people have had the cashback early.
Perhaps you can try and find out. I am doing this, but confirmation will do no harm.
My GUESS at the moment is that the reclaim applies to people who were paid early, because pro-rating makes no sense where someone (like me) has already completed the 12 months.
I am waiting for a call back from TPlus.0 -

Nigel.
I thought that too, but I've got it and I ain't giving it back!0
