Hi Paul,
I have been thinking about this some more and before I go off and spend hours doing research it has occurred to me that I'm not sure it's where the crux of the argument lies (not for me anyway).
We both agree that Telecom Plus are not the cheapest in ALL cases and I am assuming that you are not disputing the list (recently supplied by TPlus) of circumstances where they MIGHT NOT be the chepest.
There is a some dispute about the amount. You say £2-£3 which you have not proven. I say in some cases it might be as high as £50 as a better ball park which I have not proven either.
Therefore there is a dispute about the what the actual amount might be which seems to be very important to you.
However to me this is not the important issue.
The issue to me is whether is it is right to make headline claims about something that is only true (by your own admissions) at most 98% of the time.
You say yes.
I say no. ASA say no.
That's the crux of the matter for me.
An additional issue is the blatant flouting of the direct debit regulations which I don't think you've addressed apart from to suggest complaining to the bank each month, getting the money redunded and then getting it taken from another method e.g. switch or credit card.0 -
I've just joined this forum, and have been a Telecom Pus Distributor for four years. I have a couple of dozen customers (I haven't tried very hard) who I consider to be friends. I have read all the messages in this thread as I have a vested interest in the subject matter.
IMHO, there has been a lot of vitriol going backwards and forwards that was not necessary. Telecom Plus has it's faults, as does any company or person. All I can say is, that on the rare occasions that my customers have had a challenge, the company or I have been able to sort it out for them to their satisfaction.
On prices, I encourage prospective customers to check and make sure that they WILL save money. Prices vary according to where one lives. An Uncle decided to try the electricity and was sent a letter by Telecom Plus stating that he would not save money. He stayed with his current supplier. I have not yet found an electricity and gas supplier that can save me money against what I am now paying, especially as I am my own customer and get commission on what I use <G>.
I look forward to learning how to save myself money from the information I get here. If anybody has any questions for me, I will do my best to answer them.
I have the February 1st list of tariffs, so if anybody wants to work their own figures out, I am happy to oblige with their particular area's costings.

I am thinking of switching from TP+ to the NPower sign online tariff as it looks to be a good saving. I have just one question, how long do I have to be contracted to TP+ before I can switch without forfeiting the discounts etc because i know they have a clawback clause. Any info would be welcomed. Thank you.0

Doesn't anyone know the answer to this one?0

I have a feeling it's 3 months.
Don't you have access to the terms and conditions?
If not I'll post a link to them but they are available on line.0 -
BTW - do you mind telling how much you'll save (as I someimes have run-ins with TPlus reps and they demand proof).0

With regards to discounts, I believe you get the discount 3 months after the initial 12 month period ends. ie you must be with them for 15 months total before receiving any discounts.Beware the green?0

I havent been with them for 15 months but I've already my discount, so I guess I'll have to wait 15 months in total before I switch.0 -
What I don’t seem to understand about T+ (with regards to this site) is when they’re defending themselves, they come out in force; but when someone asks a simple question (I think the thread topic is addressed quite clearly) why has no one from T+ given an answer yet?Beware the green?0
