The company itself does not advertise. The problem is caused by some of its army of distributors, who are suppose to get clearance before they place any ads they create.I understand they have recently been given very clear guidelines on the cheapest Gas/Electric issue.PF.0

Surely the company has to take some responsibility for the actions of their distributors.
Surely they should train them properly or sack the negligent ones.
If they can't keep control then perhaps the distributor model is not a good one.
I don't think they can totally deny any responsibility for the actions of people who are licencsed to work on their behalf.
Besides the other issue I mentioned (direct debits) is not anything to do with distributors as they do not deal with payments.
Other members on this board have had problems where TPlus will take money from switch or credit card (without authorisation) if there is a dispute and the direct debit is cancelled.
It is illegal to do this without authorisation - again this is a head office issue and nothing to do with distributions.
I'm a bit put out about being called one-dimensional.
My complaints have many dimensions :-)0 -

My personal view is that people should check their own figures and go with what works best for their own circumstances.

In an ideal world, I agree with you Nigel.
However some people are blind, illiterate, elderly or mentally ill.
In fact I would suggest that the majority of the population have trouble dealing with figures.
Your view and mine does not negate any reponsibility on companies to act legally (at the very least) and hopefully morally and honestly.
Peopls SHOULD be able to rely on representatives to not mis-sell or mis-lead them.
My comments apply to ALL companies and are not particularly aimed at Tplus.0 -
I stay in hotels every week. They swipe my card on check-in. Now i know that they do this so that if i do a runner they can charge my card. However they dont actually give this as a reason for swiping the card, but to 'prove' that you actually stayed there or some other such reason.
the point being that i dont give them explicit authority to debit my card with the cost of the room if i do a runner, is this also illegal? why do i not see a huge queue of hotel managers outside the courts as i drive past in a morning?
In anycase the authorisation is given to T+ in clause 4.6 of the T&C's on the reverse of the application. Everone in the country knows to read T&C's its just that the vast majority of people dont bother to read them. Its even highlighted in bold text to draw customers attntion to it.
The DD guarantee states that only 5 days notice is needed in respect of variable DD mandates is required. My Bill usually arrives around the 14th of the month giving me 2 weeks or more notice.
Also, if the membership fee is an issue. then how come mortgage providers and finance companies are not getting the stick they deserve for 'arrangement fees'? adding this to the monthly repayments might make a difference to their headline rates. Im sure they wouldnt like that.
anyway, whinge over, I do agree that there must be some bad apples in the barrel, but thats going to happen in any organisation i suppose. I would argue that overall the conduct of T+ distributors, is good in comparison to some others in the energy market. I myself was switched by a doorknocker who never even got any paperwork signed.!!!0 -
Just as a matter of interest kengb, is the above post an indication of how you get your customers signed up to T+ ?
So far you have discussed supposed bad lines with 1899, the way hotels operate, broadband suppliers and how mortgage companies charge an arrangement fee. I would say most prospective customers would sign through loosing the will to live :rotfl:0 -
Four stars doesnt give you the right to be rude to other posters, if you dont like the product they promote.
T+ has its good and bad points just like 18866/1899, B Gas to name but a few.It cant be doing that bad its still expanding.PF.0 -

Can you tell us, who you think is being rude?
A quote would be good.
I am not aware of being rude, but several of us have 4 stars, so it's not clear who or what you are referring to.0 -

I think you'll find it's 6 and I have documentation from TPlus promising 10 days.
Can you provide a link to 5 days.
I can provide references to the 6 and 10 if required. My Bill usually arrives around the 14th of the month giving me 2 weeks or more notice.
Many other people do not have this experience across the country.
Perhaps your postal service is better.0 -

Might be the "offending" bit, but as I didn't complain, it's only a guess.
