My view is definitely that the scepticism and speaking out against Tplus is a reaction to the over zealous vested interests who are not here to help people but simply to make themselves some money (and truth is the first casualty)
I agree. I have had a few discussions about the way some people "sell" as opposed to offer information and let the recipient make their own mind up. I am a "follower" of the Zig Ziglar philosophy "If I help enough people get what they want, I will get everything that I want."

The way I see it, if I under promise and over deliver, I am more likely to get happy long term customers, and, referrals.

  • I've just had a letter from my Telecom+ provider called Utility Warehouse with their new charges for my area, East Midlands. The new charge for Gas is 1.985p per kWh including VAT @ 5% plus £2.42 monthly standing charge. Electricity has gone up to 7.707p per kWh including VAT plus £1.45 monthly standing charge and then there is a £1.50 membership fee. They tell me the "Government has been quietly increasing the cost to all energy suppliers in the UK of subsidising renewable power through ROC's (Renewable Obligation Certificates) which we have to purchase on behalf of all our customers, and of the EEC (Energy Effeciency Commitment), where we have to contribute towards the cost of improving fuel efficiency within UK households, particularly amongst those in receipt of defined benefits. Unfortuneately all suppliers (includinng ourselves) have no choice other than to pass these hidden taxes onto their customers through higher prices, which now add almost £30 each year to the energy cost for an average duel-fuel household." End of Quote!

I would be obliged if someone could enlighten me as to what all that is about and if the government is really helping us to pay even more than we should have to pay in the form of yet another stealth tax.

How their rates compare with others I have no idea because all the companies seem to alter their rates at differnt times so you never get a level playing field to work on. If you changed your supplier every time you found a lower rate ou'd be changing companies every month

Utility Discount Warehouse Club (Telecom Plus) have claimed to be THE cheapest for gas and electricity in the past. As a Distributor, I disagreed with this wording because sometimes a deal from another company would be a bit cheaper. And, as you point out some companies put their prices up before others. What I will say, is that I believe them to be among the cheapest. That, combined with cash back for having all my services from them gives me an excellent deal. Some people are happy checking prices and swapping suppliers several times a year. I'm not. Touch wood, I've also had good service from them too and their telecoms service was rated second in a Daily Mail article last month.

I pay them line rental as it's less than BT's and there is no cable round here. I get free calls to friends, family and anyone else on their system. Having said that I use the phone a LOT and pay for "free" calls to UK numbers and use one of the dialled call suppliers for phoning abroad.

    T-Plus unlimited calls 24/7 to 01/02 numbers £9.50.
Talk Talk do same thing for £7.99,and first 3 months free, and give you free calls to other TT users. So in first year it costs an average of £6 a month.

Or if you were to use 18866/1899 you would have to make approximately 73 (SEVENTY THREE) ,01/02 calls a week to get up to £9.50 a month

As you will see from the letter they no longer claim to be the Cheapest.

Any major supplier will normally be cheaper then Brit Gas for Gas,and cheaper then your own local electricity supplier for Electric.Thats what deregulation was all about. So that is not exactly a good selling point,or a good reason to stay with them.
