OK, well that wasn't me so I'm relieved.
But there is a smiley after it so I would have taken it as a bit of a joke about waiting times.
Perhaps someones being a bit defensive.0 -
Nope it was pricefighter who thought it was rude.
It might have been rude if meant seriously, but by putting on an imoticon with a smile it means that someone is indicating a bit of leg pulling.0 -

the point being that i dont give them explicit authority to debit my card with the cost of the room if i do a runner, is this also illegal? why do i not see a huge queue of hotel managers outside the courts as i drive past in a morning?
Perhaps your consumer guide to hotels that do not do this should appear elsewhere on MSE. Be warned though that this might be interpreted as conspiracy to incite fraud.
I am totally at a loss to understand your whining about your inability to scarper in the morning without paying and your reasons for wishing to see a group of non-negligent hotel managers in court.
You may well do, but I think you have the roles of defendent and plaintiff mixed up.0 -

My experience is different from yours.the point being that i dont give them explicit authority to debit my card with the cost of the room if i do a runner
I think you will find that you will have done so, even if you think you haven't.is this also illegal?
No it's not.
But it is illegal to leave without paying.0 -

Can you provide a link to 5 days.
I can provide references to the 6 and 10 if required.
My DD guarantee says 'at least 5 working days'
Many other people do not have this experience across the country.
Perhaps your postal service is better.
I cant be responsible for the efficiency of the post office. I can only speak from my own experience and that of my known customers.
So far you have discussed supposed bad lines with 1899, the way hotels operate, broadband suppliers and how mortgage companies charge an arrangement fee. I would say most prospective customers would sign through loosing the will to live :rotfl:[/QUOTE]
Its a balancing argument, people onyl want to change if theyre unhappy with current service levels, or pricing, or both. If they are happy then I dont see the need for them to change.0 -
Thank you for one of your rare visits, kengb. Next month, perhaps you would edit this recent post to better show which bits are quotes and which are answers.
You seem to have decreased the entertainment factor by commenting no further on your hotel experiences.0 -

I have discussed 1 of these 5 things and I was responding to a question about the way hotels operate not introducing the subject.
Are you drunk?
I agree that people sometime want to change for price. I certainly did.
That doesn't mean that people are going to be happy when they receive poor service e.g. get charged fees they weren't told about, get their bills late etc.0 -
I am a Telecom Plus distributor and note with interest the heavy sceptism and protectionism displayed by those against and for this company but to some extent I believe that those on both sides of the argument are tending to miss the point.
In a competitive market environment, pricing is a constantly moving target and what might be the best deal one month my be far from it the following month.
I too am a Senior Executive for TP, but this doesn't mean I am a senior rep in the company itself. It is purely a title in the Marketing Plan.
In fact, I tend to run my TP business as a hobby and am not desperate to sell to people under any circumstances as suggested by one contributor to this forum. If I feel I can do a friend or colleague a favour while at the same time being honest and open I will.
Being a TP distributor is not my life or the be all and end all. In fact I work as Cabin Crew for a UK charter airline as I love flying and draw my main income from this. Therefore Telecom Plus is just an enjoyable sideline.
In two years I have gathered approximately 45 customers, a small number by anyone's standards, although the interesting thing is that 40 are still with me. You see, I don't rant on about prices and rates and who is the cheapest, I just offer people one bill for all their utilitites (bar water supply of course).
This is usually enough stimulus in itself to create interest and if people take everything we offer, Broadband, Landline, Mobile, Gas and Electricity, if the annual cashback is added on, we are still extremely competitive.
The Management of TP have a special interest in constantly striving to give the consumer the best deal possible, so I believe they are never far behind the current "best deal" in most of these areas.
I also note the comment by a "Standards Officer" about our supposed practices. While I am unable to dispute these facts either way, I would like to point out that there are rogue elements in all Energy Companies. For example, only a couple of months ago, I had a Southern Electric Rep call at my door asking me to sign a form approving the work going on under the road outside my house, which on closer inspection was a form changing my supplier back to them.
I think at the end of the day, a large number of the population are looking primarily for honesty, integrity and minimum hassle as well as saving a few bob, and I always hope that my customer service goes a long way towards providing that.

Hi Andrew,
You sound like an OK bloke with decent motives.
I have been around these boards for a long long time and my view is that the scepticism is a direct consequence of those who have tried to promote the company in not such a good way as yourself
e.g.
trying to sell on boards that they shouldn't be
not declaring their vested interest
making claims which simply aren't true.
Many of the posters on these boards (and I include myself) are altruistic in their nature and we won't stand by and watch people be given information which we know in untrue.
I am myself a telecom plus customer and I value having cheap prices and one bill. I have however had a few problems with the service.
I don't have any axe to grind either way.
My view is definitely that the scepticism and speaking out against Tplus is a reaction to the over zealous vested interests who are not here to help people but simply to make themselves some money (and truth is the first casualty).
I am sure that other companies are just as bad however they haven't in general come on these boards and tried to sell to us (they do it door to door).
If you are genuine in your motives (which you seem to be) and you don't put making money above telling people the truth and you are prepared to discuss things politely then I think you will find us a pretty friendly bunch.
I have just moved my home phone to TPlus, mainly for the benefit of having one bill. This way I stopped 2 bills (one from BT and one from Talk Talk).
However I don't like the claims from Tplus that they have the cheapest gas and electricity because it isn't true and there have been several rulings from the Advertising Standards Authority on the subject.
I suspect that Tplus are no worse than other utility companies, however several distributors have brought the product to the boards and hence we discuss them.
There are some very clever people on these boards, we are not amateurs, so you can expect the small print to be gone through with a fine toothcomb.
Welcome to the boards
