Thanks SA unfortunately she ha gone downhill again and we are looking at euthanasia. I know this seems silly without an official diagnosis but with her timidity about anything to do with vets it is very very stressful for her and her symptoms suggest something serious whish would involve tests at the vet. This would be too much for her. This morning her legs gave way entirely and she had real problems getting up again, she has been lying on the sofa for much of the day looking really unhappy and frightened. She has pretty constant tremors suggesting she is in pain and her tail is well down. When she does manage to go in the garden her head iis low and her ears are flat. She is 14 and we dont want her to suffer so I will be speaking to the vet tomorrow (I hope) as I have to take little one in for her scan and blood tests. If I dont see the vet as sometimes it is the nurses that do the admissions I will make an appointment to speak to the vet in person. I am a bit concerned that they will think we are just getting rid of an inconvenient old dog but that is not the case she is just a one off and we have to do what we think is the best for her.

This is not a happy house tonight.

I'm so sorry to read about your lovely old dog.  You know her best of all and you know what's right for her, however hard that is.  It's heartbreaking for you but you love her and she loves you and the wonderful life you have given her.   Sending hugs.

Well today has been good in parts. First the bad unfortunately the vets couldnt fit in Miss Ws euthanasia so it is booked for 9.30 in the morning. I realised I had a new bottle of meloxidil that had been prescribed for Mr H a while ago but we already had some to use up. Anyway I gave her a dose last night and a slight overdose this evening (it give pain relief for 24hours) so she does seem a bit more comfortable.

Little one had her blood tests and heart scan and the news is quite good. Although she does have kidney failure it is not as bad as we were led to believe and the vet has taken her off all the diuretics and has prescribed he a bronchial dilator as he thinks her cough is more bronchial. I jokingly suggested an inhaler as I have one for me but she is getting tablets. He reckons her heart is not too bad and at 15 she is more likely to die of something else first.

Tomorrow is going to be a hard day but we will get throough it and least we will know she is not in pain any more. She will be coming home albeit in a box and will join the others waiting for us to die and then they will come with us. Hopefully not for some years yet.

Money saving is obviously shot this week but on the bright side I have had an ebay sale which may have to wait until Friday to post.

So sad 💔😢 No words in the world could ever make it better.

Is the little one the Jack? Sounds like good news about her. My friend’s Jack lived to be 20, I’m hoping mine will too, she’s 10 and still lively.

I’ll be thinking of you tomorrow morning 💔

Just a brief one tonight as the dogs need some reassurance. All went ok with Mis Ws euthanasia except the vet appeared somewhat judgemental in that we had not got a proper diagnosis before deciding but as a locum she didnt know Miss W and hadnt read her notes before coming to the house so knew nothing about her. Yes we know it isnt usual but her timidity and the fact she wouldnt go to the vet made it all difficult. She was so unsteady on her feet today that she fell over a couple of times. Anyway it is done now and in the fullness of time she will come home.

Aww, it's so sad losing a dear old fur friend, @ladyholly . I'm not a dog person, but have had to make that sad & horrible decision about past cats. It's something all pet owners dread, but you know, I think we all know when that time has come for our animals, even though we wish it wasn't so. It helps us to be able to bring our cats home for burial in the garden, always with a little posy of flowers from where they liked to sit.
I'm sure she had a lovely life with you.
