joedenise said:@ladyholly - try putting the puppy pad outside the back door to encourage the pup to use it outside. I've not had a dog for a long time but when we did we used to use newspaper by the back door and then once pup was using regularly put the paper outside when the door was open and gradually moved it to a different part of the garden where we wanted the dog to "go". Once using it in the right place gradually reduced the amount of paper.
Used this system with all our dogs over the years.

Another weird day in the LH house. Got up to clear the puppy pads which had been thoroughly used, Miss W then jumped on the sofa in the conservatory especially to vomit all over it. Got the covers off as quickly as possible and thrown in water to soak. All the while Mr H sat patiently waiting for his breakfast. Fed him and gave little one her tablet which has to be taken an hour before food. Took little one out then Mr H by the time I got back Miss W decided she would go out for a short walk (as above she is not well) . Loaded the washing machine of the sofa covers and an hour after getting up finally had a cup of tea.Little one has a vets appointment shortly so will now have to get her fed and given more tablets. Then out we go. I am fully expecting Miss W to have used her pads by the time we get back despite taking her out just before leaving but we will see.I might just have time to hang the sofa covers on the rack before we go. I dont have a clothes line as there really isnt room.2

What a palaver, it’s like having little kids. My morning has been similar sorting out 2 cats and a dog. For a minute I thought Mr H was your hubby waiting patiently for his breakfast and morning walk 🤣I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)1

I hadn't thought of the similarity but my husband is much the same but he doesn't usually appear until lunchtime and then he sits and waits for his breakfast before doing the main dog walk.😂1

We are back from the vet
. He wants to stop the tablet she started on Thursday and re do the scan she had in January and do blood tests. Its no wonder I am getting confused with what she has when. 1 tab an hour before breakfast and dinner, 1 tablet with her breakfast and a different one with her dinner.
I have just asked if they will do a home visit for miss W. They are thinking about it. She will not go to the vet. We have tried in their car park, in the park area next to the vet, in the car, sedation and have run out of ideas. At home we trap her in a corner of the lounge sufficient to listen to her chest and give vaccinations but nothing more than that. She just shuts down and wont co operate with anything more than that. I will see what they say on Monday but am not hopeful. It is so difficult with her.1 -
Well I am absolutely fuming. Miss W is very unwell. Vomiting, drinking huge amounts, weeing everywhere and very unsteady on her feet so I rang the on call vet. Now first I should explain that she is absolutely terrified of vets so any treatment has to be done at home or the vet comes to us and gives her heavy sedation and she is the taken to the surgery. We have tried everything we can to get her there and co operate but it is just too much for her and the sedative we can give her are just not strong enough.ùThis on call vet wanted to charge us £500 just to walk through the door. We live less than a mile from the on call surgery. No consideration for the dogs fear. Basically she couldn't be bothered. The other 2 dogs we are quite happy to take to them but miss W is a one off. I am now left with a sick dog who I hope our vet will see tomorrow. If they wont come out and I am sure her issues are documented in her notes then we are left with no choice but to get cloud 9 to put her to sleep. I am not prepared to let her suffer any more. I am heartbroken to even think about it but we will be left with no choice.she is cuddled up to me at the moment I don't want to think that tomorrow she may not be. Sorry to be so gloomy but I am angry and upset.1

Oh I’m so sorry to read this. What an uncaring vet. I hope your vet will come out tomorrow and be able to do something for her 🙏I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)2

Called into vet this morning and spoke to the receptionist who has been there since before it changed hands last year so is well aware of the problems with miss W. She said she would see what she could do and bless her she rang me to say the vet would be with me about 12. Then would you believe it Miss W really perked up and although not fully fit I really couldnt justify called athe vet out so had to cancel her. I apologised profusely but yesterday we really thought we were going to lose her. She has eaten almost her full meal tonight and appears to continue with the improvement. I have even had a tail wag.On money saving there has not been a lot going on. I have banked the cheque from GWR at the post office but I am not sure how long it will take to get there and clear. there will be a very small amount in my bank account from ebay by tomorrow so will tranfsfer that to the loan account. On the other hand we have saved paying for the vet call out so thats a win.3
